Cookware Safety

Hold the handle of the pan when stirring or turning food.
This helps prevent spills and movement of the pan.
Use Proper Pan Size.
The use of undersized cookware will expose a portion of
the heating element or burner to direct contact and may
result in ignition of clothing. Select cookware having flat
bottoms large enough to cover the surface heating unit.
This appliance is equipped with one or more surface
units of different sizes. Proper relationship of cookware to
heating element or burner will also improve efficiency.
Always position handles of utensils inward so they do not
extend over adjacent work areas, burners, or the edge of
the cooktop. This reduces the risk of fires, spills and
burns.
Adjust burner flame size so that it does not extend
beyond the edge of the cookware. Proper relationship of
cookware to burner flame reduces safety risks.

Operating the Griddle

WARNING
To avoid risk of injury, NEVER operate griddle without
the grates installed.
NEVER use the griddle in a manner that is not
prescribed by the Use and Care Guide.
DO NOT use ceramic briquettes, wood chips, lava
rocks, or charcoal briquettes.
The elements are hot after use. Allow sufficient time for
components to cool before cleaning.
DO NOT use more than one griddle.
DO NOT heat cookware on the griddle surface.
A VENTILATING HOOD of adequate cubic-feet-per-
minute capacity vented to the outside of the house is
strongly recommended for installation ABOVE THE
RANGETOP or RANGE. The hood must be installed
according to installation instructions furnished with the
hood and local building code requirements. Refer to
ventilation requirements in the appliance's Installation
Manual for additional information.
HEAT
A griddle cooks more evenly and efficiently at lower
temperatures. Burner temperatures can exceed 1,000 °F
(540 °C). Excessive heat will cause discoloration, soften
the coating and will shorten the life of the griddle surface
coating.
FOR COOKING USE MEDIUM-LOW TO MEDIUM HEAT
SETTINGS ONLY.
To prevent warping, avoid sudden temperature changes
such as running water onto a hot griddle or placing a hot
griddle on a cold surface Always use oven mitts when
handling a hot griddle.
IMPORTANT: NEVER USE HIGH HEAT. EXCESS HEAT
MAY BE TRAPPED UNDER THE GRIDDLE AND CAUSE
DAMAGE TO THE RANGETOP.
