Polyethylene Film Slots Increase Flexibility The STEP ® Snowmelt heating elements MEP-30-70W and MEP-23-80W are designed to prevent ice and snow on walkways and driveways. The element is constructed of two parallel bus braids embedded in semi-conductive PTC polymer. A polymeric dielectric liner is applied at the time of manufacturing so that the liner is thermally fused to the heating element.
