Tongue Load
Trailer Nose Load
• Excessive trailer nose load reduces front tyre traction and steering control. Too
little trailer nose load can make the trailer unstable and cause it to sway.
• To achieve a proper trailer nose load, start by loading 60% of the load toward the
front of the trailer and 40% toward the rear. Readjust the load as needed.

Trailer Nose load
The trailer nose load should never exceed 70
kg (154 Ibs). This is the amount of weight the
trailer puts on the towbar when it is fully-
loaded. As a rule of thumb for trailer weights
of less than 700 kg (1,543 Ibs), the trailer nose
load should be 10 percent of the total trailer
package.
