The Western CP600 may turn off after two minutes of operation in manual mode due to the Auto Restart option not being active in Hand (manual) mode. In manual mode, the timer pulse is not applied to the Start circuit, so the machine remains off after a power loss or interruption.

To fix the issue of the Western CP600 irrigation machine shutting off after 2 minutes of manual operation, follow these steps:

1. Check Electrical Power: Ensure the main disconnect lever on the main control panel is fully turned on. Verify that all tower disconnect switches are also on.

2. Inspect Lockout/Tagout: Make sure the system is not accidentally locked out. Verify no lockout devices are engaged on the main disconnect or automatic valves.

3. Check for Water Supply: Confirm that all automatic valves are engaged properly and the system is filled with water. If the pivot unexpectedly drains, it may shut down.

4. Inspect Machine Alignment: Improper alignment can trigger shutdowns. Ensure the pivot has a slight leading bow and is aligned as described—start at the pivot and adjust towers accordingly.

5. Look for Pinch Points or Obstructions: Make sure there are no mechanical obstructions or pinch points that could cause the system to stop.

6. Verify All Bolts: Check that all bolts are properly tightened as part of initial startup checks.

If the issue persists after these checks, further electrical or mechanical troubleshooting may be needed.

  • Page 23: Lockout/Tagout Procedures

This standard covers the lockout/tagout procedures you must use when servicing your Western pivot. The intent of Western corporation’s pivot lockout/tagout standard is to protect you or your workers anytime the pivot requires servicing. Before any worker performs maintenance on the piv- ot where unexpected energizing, start up release stored energy could occur and cause injury, the pivot must be isolated and rendered inoperative.
  • Page 24 Section 1-20 Lockout/Tagout Procedures Your Western pivot requires 480 volt 60 cycle, 3-phase electric power to operate sufficient charge. There is also 110-volt control power throughout the system. Other potential haz- ards include any injected fertilizers and pesticides, and water under pressure.

Section 5-2 A Word About Proper Grounding Due to the wet environment of irrigation equipment, it is very important that your Western CP600 Center Pivot Irrigation System be properly grounded . The NEC (National Electric Code) requires a grounded conductor of a grounded utility system to extend to every piece of equipment served . This means that for a three-phase electrical system, three power wires and one ground wire are required between your main ser- vice entrance disconnect and the pivot panel .
