The Yacht Lamp is constructed of solid cast machined brass. It consists of two main parts: the upper bonnet and the lower
oil reservoir which can be detached from the bonnet by turning counter-clockwise. Each lamp is individually marked with a
unique number. The Yacht Lamp is available in three finishes: solid brass (#700), brass with black bonnet (#700BK), and brass
with stainless steel bonnet (#700SS).
To Add Lamp Fuel To The Oil Reservoir (Font):
The oil reservoir consists of the following parts: retaining ring, wick holder, gasket, and oil font with wire wick adjuster. To gain access
to the oil reservoir, turn the retaining ring counter clockwise and lift out the wick holder and wick. You can now carefully add lamp oil.
Fill ¾ full. Do not overfill.
To Light Lamp:
1. After filling, replace the wick holder assuring that the wire adjuster is positioned correctly with the wire touching the wick.
2. With the wick holder sitting flush on the cork washer, firmly screw down the retaining ring.
3. Allow the wick to become saturated with oil. Then, catching the wick with the wire adjuster, raise the wick to expose 1/10
of an inch above the holder.
4. Light the wick and screw the font into the bottom of the lamp.
5. Using the wire wick adjuster, move the wick so the flame is about half an inch high. The flame height and quality of the fuel
will determine the burn time. The lamp will burn up to 30 hours on one filling, depending on the type of fuel used.
Lamp Fuel Recommendation:
pure liquid paraffin.
We very strongly recommend that you do not use kerosene or other cheap lamp fuels, as they will:
• Burn with excessive odor
• Create smoke and soot
• Burn the wick too quickly
• Present a fire hazard
We do recommend using Weems & Plath Lamp Fuel because it is:
• Clean burning, free of odor and carbon build up
• Safe (flash point is over 200° F)
• Long burning (1 oz = 6 hours of use)
CAUTION: Lamp will become hot after being lit for more than 5 minutes. When moving use "S" hook at top of bonnet and
place on heat resistant surface.
To Extinguish Flame:
Pull the wick down slightly with the wire adjuster.
To Replace Wick:
1. Be sure to use the proper ½" wick: our part #770-3.
2. Remove and discard old wick.
3. Trim new wick if necessary, so that the top is straight without dangling strings. Thread it through the wick holder until 1/10
of an inch is exposed at top.
