A polished pattern on the ground surface from commutator or rotor rotation is normal.

Discard seal ring only if stator halves become disassembled during the service procedures.

Check exposed portion of coupling shaft (14) shaft for rust to be sure you have removed all signs of rust or corrosion and corrosion which might prevent its withdrawal through the seal and bearing.
