Page 47
The pre-collision braking system This function helps the driver to avoid collisions by issuing a warning when there is a possibility of a collision, generally with a vehicle in front. If the driver, however, does not take action to avoid the collision, the brakes are automatically applied directly before the collision to mitigate collision damage or avoid it.

(6) Driver monitoring system With more older and younger drivers on the road, collisions caused by driver inattentiveness (looking to the side or falling asleep) are increasing. Therefore, more modern vehicles are being equipped with advanced safety technology such as EyeSight. While advanced safety technology is useful for reducing the task load imposed on the driver, it can also be a cause of inattention, due to drivers carelessly thinking that the "advanced safety technology will keep the car from being involved in any collisions".
Page 51
< Individual recognition> This system is linked to the opening and closing of the door and recognizes individuals. When the driver sits in the seat and recognition is completed, the results are displayed graphically on the Multi-Information Display (MID). After this time, the various settings particular to that driver are automatically adjusted. These include seat position, door mirror angle, contents displayed on the meter screen, and A/C settings.
Page 52
(7) Smartphone-linked connectivity The system can link up with smartphones that have Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, or Smart Device Link (SDL)-compatible apps installed. The system is compatible with wireless software and map data updates using Wi-Fi (OTA) and simple pairing functions with Near Field Communication (NFC). Update Over The Air Map update Over The Air MOTA Map data stored on the navigation system can be updated using Wi-Fi communications.

Data Communication Module DCM In-vehicle data communication uses CAN to transmit/receive data to/from each unit, while the external communication takes place with the server via the roof antenna and the sub- antenna in the instrument panel to provide telematics services. The data communication module that is the heart of the system is located in the center of the automobile and in the passenger compartment in order to reduce the impact of collisions.
Page 57
User interface The UI of the system enables communication with the outside by the switches with integrated indicators, service displays that use the navigation system or audio H/U display, and a voice guidance function. Switches with integrated indicators Communication with the outside can be made immediately by operating the switches, and the switches are located in the overhead console/EyeSight camera cover section to ensure ease of use in an emergency situation.
