Universal Infrared Remote PC Power Switch Chip
Note that the three +5V connections
below ( to pin 1, to the 10KOhm resistor,
and to the IR-W receiver ) are supplied
from the the purple wire from the PCs
ATX power supply. This purple wire is a
standby (always-on) +5v supply.

Pin 5 connects to the red wire on
any 4-pin Molex connector (ie hard
drive power connector) or +5V line
from the power supply.
Do not connect this line to the
purple standby line of the ATX
power supply.
(The purpose of this connection is
to indicate to the PC2 the current
power state of the PC.)

Here are 2 wire splices. One splice is a wire from pin 2 of the
PC2 to one of the front-panel power switch wires. The other
splice is from pin 7 of the PC2 to the other front-panel switch
wire.
The order does not matter, as the polarity will automatically
be detected.

This is the 2-pin,
ON/OFF header on
your PCs motherboard.
