24 VDC (+/-20%), 10W CUEadapter /10W (or higher) One power supply unit CUE adapter can be used to supply not only the Assistant or Assistant-S unit but also other parts of the control system (wired keyboards, touch panels, Cue’s interfaces, etc.). In that case a special attention must be paid to select the power supply with proper power factor.
1. The Assistant is equipped with one resettable fuse rated 2.5 A. There are no serviceable parts inside the metal case. 2. The Assistant-S is equipped with one fuse 2 A. The fuse can be changed without necessity to open the unit.

4 V on the ground wire and 4 V on the +24 V wire. To supply power distribution line the output OUT of the Assistant can be used. In this case the whole consumption should not exceed 2 A (fuse in the Assistant and Assistant-S for power output marked OUT is 2 A).
3.5. IR Receiver The infra-red control input marked IR-REC enables to connect irCUE Receivers. Up to 10 receivers can bee connected with bus connection (+12V, ground and data) - see the irCUE Receiver specifications. Assistant Assistant-S OUT RS-485 CONSOLLE IR-REC...
3.6. Interfaces If the number of outputs of the Assistant or Assistant-S interface is not enough other Cue’s interfaces can be used for the system expansion. The serial channel for Cue’s interfaces connection is marked S9 / CUEring. Interface connections use a CUEring cable supplied in various lengths. The cable is a 2-core screened cable or two twisted-pair.

POWER __________ When the POWER diode shines it indicates the presence of feeding voltage. Assistant has three green LEDs : +5, -12, +12 V Assistant-S has one green LED shows the right function of the internal switch power supply and accordingly the supply voltage 24 VDC.
4.4. The PC Card Slot The only Assistant front panel has a slot for PCMCIA standard PC Card. It supports PCMCIA PC Cards size 32 kB up to 40 MB. PC Card type is RAM. Insert the PC card to the slot with the sign upwards. First the card insertion goes easily, then intensive resistance is felt which has to be overcome till the end, press up the card to stop.
4.5. Connecting the Host Computer The standard data cable is used for a connection between the Assistant or Assistant-S connector marked HOST COMPUTER and a PC serial port (COMx). The cable length up to 20 m. We recommend the standard serial cable with Sub-D, 9-pin, male and Sub-D, 9-pin, female connectors with all pin to pin connection.
5. Setup by Optional Switch An optional switch OSW is implemented both in the Assistant and in the Assistant-S. It is situated on the rear side and it is accessible from outside. Factory default is all switches off. The meaning of OSW is dependent on the version of firmware which is currently installed! For firmware versions V3.00 and higher the meaning is as follows.
Both models are equipped with special service mode for servicing, testing and upgrading functions. To operate it, it is necessary to connect the Assistant or Assistant-S to a PC and run proper communication program - Windows Terminal or other similar general terminal program.
* * * Do you really wish to reprogram flash memory ? (Yes/No) If you really have new file FLxxxx.HEX for Assisatnt or VSxxx.ASX for Assistant-S and you want to continue select Y. On the PC monitor the message (for Assistant) appears.
The PC will start to send upgrading data to the unit responding character "." on the PC monitor after successful transfer of each data packet. At the end the following message appears on the PC monitor....................Download flash memory end! >...
Remember that many desktop computers have the ground connected with neutral wire of the power supply 230 VAC! Connect the serial port when the power is off, and supply the computer and the Assistant or Assistant-S from the same power socket. User Manual Control Units www.cuesystem.com...
