    About this manual This user guide contains important information for handling, operation, maintenance and operating conditions of Flexijet 3D. The warning and error messages are also described. Do not use the FLEXIJET 3D before fully reading and understanding this manual.

    Intended Use Flexijet 3D is a mobile 3D measuring system with which rooms and buildings can be measured in three dimensions. With the help of built-in servomotors, the projection of points by the laser from a CAD drawing back onto a work site is also possible.

    The built-in battery may only be charged with the supplied power adapter. The use of other power supplies not approved by Flexijet GmbH may lead to damage of the device, property damage and personal injury. For safe handling of the device, it is recommended that all new users undertake training with Flexijet GmbH or an authorised partner in your region.

    3.3 Principle of operation The Flexijet 3D determines three-dimensional coordinates based on two angles and a distance. The device has two movable axes with encoders and a laser range finder. For the back-projection of points, position motors are installed, so that points can be projected in space with the help of the built-in laser.

    The measurement trigger ① activates a measurement. While a Measurement measurement is active, the LED ring around the measuring shutter Trigger illuminates red. During this phase the Flexijet 3D must not be moved. ON/OFF This switches the Flexijet on or off. Please note the comments in section 5.

    Quick Start GUIDE Power Supply The Flexijet 3D has a built-in Li-Ion battery with a rated voltage of 14.8V and a capacity of 5.200 mAh. To charge the battery, the main power switch ⑤ must be ON. Only the supplied power adapter may be used for charging.

    STONE: this software is a specially configured version of FlexiCAD3. It is intended for users that mainly work in the stone industry as some of the more advanced 3D features have been removed. Stone industry users have the choice to use either software.

    Quick Start GUIDE 6.2 Setting Up Flexijet 3D Hardware Extend the carbon fibre tripod to the required height and attach the measuring head to the tripod. Attach the laptop platform to the telescopic handle of the heavy duty case. Please ensure that the platform is attached so that is sitting directly over the heavy duty case.

    ① will go out. 6.4 Preparing for your first measurement Turn on the Flexijet 3D by pressing button ②. Do this first as it will allow time for the Flexijet device to start transmitting a WiFi signal. Wait until start up is completed before proceeding.

    You can either change or accept the settings displayed in each of the preference sections ‘System Settings’, ‘CAD Preferences’, ‘Flexijet’, etc. If you wish to use the FlexiCAD software without connecting to the Flexijet hardware, select ‘FlexiCAD’ in System Settings > Flexijet Mode.     Quick Start GUIDE With the App, you can control the motor drive of the Flexijet with one hand (instead of using the XBox Controller). This is great when measuring alone and you need a free hand to hold an aluminium straight edge to take a measurement. The controls are easy to master and the sensitivity and increment size an be set in the App’s preferences.

    Take a picture: To take a picture using your phone’s camera, tap on the camera icon (this works in the same way as the ‘Take a picture’ command in FlexiCAD). You have two options, take a picture with a reference point displayed in your CAD drawing or take a picture without the reference point.

    Finer movement of the laser For finer movement of the laser (such as required when aiming at a target to relocate the Flexijet), is accomplished by just tapping on the home screen to move the laser in small increments. To move the laser right, tap on the To move the laser up, tap on the right hand portion of the screen.

    Having a clear hierarchical folder/layer structure will avoid confusion and provide clarity in the measurements that you perform. This is especially important with complex and large measurements (eg. measuring an entire building as a single 3D file). Create folders/layers and sub-folders/layers that are logical and clearly identify the areas where measurements will be taken.

    10.3 Perform Your First Measurement Flexijet 3D can perform measurements in numerous ways. It is dependent on what is to be measured, and whether you can use one of FlexiCAD’s automated measuring routines or use a manual method. Your measurement skills will improve over time with practice.

    FlexiCAD files have the .flexijet extension and can only be opened by FlexiCAD. To process your 3D file in other CAD software such as AutoCAD, Pytha, Microvellum etc, use the export command to export the file in the appropriate format.

    The USB disk in the case will also contain other software and resources to compliment the features of the Flexijet 3D. As of this writing, the following will be found on the USB disk but this may change from time to time.
  • Page 30 You can create a new symbol to add to the library without having to alter your template file. Flexijet Australia provides you with some limited symbols that you may find useful. The installation symbols are located in the folder Symbole2_english. These will generally be installed during the initial setup and training of your Flexijet device.
