Installation 8.0 I.H.E.A.T. Framing 8.1 Fireplace Framing IMPORTANT Framing dimensions should allow for wall covering thickness and fireplace facing materials. If using a hearth, adjust rough opening size as necessary to maintain at least minimum clearance requirements. Non–combustible or combustible facing material may be applied over (but not directly to) fireplace face. - Page 15 Installation The fireplace may be recessed according to the finishing material used (see See Section 8.1). Bend the tab according to the thickness of the wallboard being installed, then install the finishing material. Figure 8.1.02: Wallboard Flush Alternatively, the fireplace may be covered by a combustible building material such as wood or wallboard. Bend the tabs closest to the front of the fireplace for a flush look(see See Section 8.1).
