  • Page 6 3 Legal The Easylife Eco Cabin Scooter is designed to be operated by a single person, in accordance with the legal requirements for operating a Class 3 invalid Cabin Scooterriage in the jurisdiction in which it was sold. Operating the vehicle outside of these limitation will invalidate the warranty.

    4 Safety The Cabin Scooter should only be operated by a single person, who is not suffering from any condition which impairs vision, hearing, eyesight or the ability to react to sudden changes in surroundings. If you suffer from any of the above, it is recommended that you seek advice from your doctor before operating the Cabin Scooter.

    5 Introduction Your Cabin Scooter is a high tech piece of mobility equipment that will give you years of faithful service and enjoyment. This booklet provides an introduction to the operation, maintenance and Cabin Scootere of your Cabin Scooter. If you have any questions, or are unsure of anything, you should contact the retailer who originally supplied it to you.

    6 Your Cabin Scooter 6.1 Intended Use The Cabin Scooter is designed for use on smooth pavement or roadway, in accordance with local laws. The Cabin Scooter can be used in wet and windy weather but discretion should be used when planning a journey in adverse weather conditions.

    6.2 Unintentional Movement The Cabin Scooter should be stopped fully before any door is opened. When the Cabin Scooter is switched on, it will remain stationary until one of the following: 1. The accelerator or reverse handle is pulled. 2. The Freewheel button is engaged. If the vehicle is moving the door should be fully closed with the driver inside the vehicle.

    9 Operating Your Cabin Scooter 9.1 Entering the Vehicle The vehicle can be entered safely from both the left and right hand side. First ensure that the Cabin Scooter is stationary on smooth, level ground. Fully open one of the doors, and enter the vehicle. When you are safely and comfortably seated, pull the door closed behind you using the handle mounted beneath the window.

    9.2 Seat Adjustments It is important to adjust the drivers seat into a good position that allows you to comfortably operate all of the vehicle controls. To move the seat forwards or backwards, grasp the black lever on the right hand side underneath the seat. Push firmly against the floor with your feet, or pull on the handles mounted to the doors.

Figure 1 - Press black handle to adjust tiller pitch 9.4 Steering The Cabin Scooter is fitted with a mechanical steering column that should be operated with both hands at all times. When the Cabin Scooter is stationary the steering may feel heavy or stiff, as the wheels will grind into the flooring surface when you attempt to turn them.

    9.5 Acceleration & Braking 9.5.1 Speed Controls The Cabin Scooter has several methods for controlling speed; the 4mph and 8mph settings, the max speed limiter and the throttle. 9.5.1.1 Upper & Lower Speed Settings The upper and lower speed settings are controlled by the right hand dial on the tiller. The two settings put the Cabin Scooter in either 4mph or 8mph mode.

    9.5.1.3 Throttle levers Acceleration and deceleration are controlled by the Red and Green levers on the tiller. They are designed to prevent both Accelerator and Reverse being activated at the same time. To set off, gently squeeze the green lever, and the Cabin Scooter will accelerate up to the maximum allowable speed set by the speed controls. To slow down, simply release the accelerator and the Cabin Scooter will coast to a stop.
  • Page 18 To engage reverse mode, ensure that the Cabin Scooter is stopped on even ground, and the wheels are pointed forwards. Before moving, check that the area is clear of obstructions and your planned path is of adequate size. Check the rear-view mirror and wing mirrors prior to manoeuvres. Gently squeeze the red lever, and the Cabin Scooter will begin to slowly accelerate backwards.

    9.6 Locking, Unlocking and Starting 9.6.1 Manual Unlocking The Cabin Scooter can be unlocked manually by using the dedicated door key provided with your Cabin Scooter. The key will lock and unlock both doors at the same time when used in the Nearside door, and will unlock just the right door when used on the offside door.

    Figure 3 - Key fob components The batteries required are: Lithium Cell CR2016 V3 batteries. 9.6.3 Manual Locking The Cabin Scooter can be locked manually by pushing down on the black “locking pin” at the front of each door. This will engage the locks, and they will remain engaged until you lift the locking pin manually.

    9.6.4 Starting the Cabin Scooter The Cabin Scooter will only start when the ignition key is inserted into the housing on the tiller column, and turned clockwise fully.     9.7 Lights The Cabin Scooter is supplied with high quality LED headlights that can be activated from the tiller top controls. To switch on the headlights press the . It is advisable to use the headlights when ever the Cabin Scooter is in motion, in order to aid other drivers and pedestrians in noticing you.

    9.10 Horn The electric horn is activated by pressing the button on the tiller top. The horn should only be used in compliance with the highway code, it is not a communication device and should not be used as such. The horn will not sound if the key is not in the ignition and the Cabin Scooter switched on.
  • Page 24 It is recommended that you refill the reservoir before it is fully empty. Never run the washer jet without fluid as this may damage the pump. The top tank is a top-up tank only, do not attempt to fill this to the brim as it may cause leaks.

    9.13 USB Chargers The Cabin Scooter is equipped with USB charging ports on the right hand side of the tiller column. The two USB ports provide different power outputs. Smaller devices or those with older hardware will perform best in the left port (port 1), while newer devices will work better in the right port (port 2).

    9.14Cup Holder For your convenience the Cabin Scooter is fitted with a bottle/cup holder. It can be opened by pulling down on the upper ring. The lower ring will follow.     9.15 Internal Heater The heater supplied with the Cabin Scooter is an electric fan heater that can be used to warm the air inside the Cabin Scooter. It is activated by the button on the right hand side of the dashboard. When the heater is active you may hear the fans, and the button will illuminate to indicate that the heater is on.

    9.16 Rear Parcel Shelf The rear parcel shelf is designed to Cabin Scooterry light loads of less than 5lbs. It houses the rear lighting cluster it is important to avoid over-loading it with weight, as this can damage the lighting components.     9.17 Internal Charge Port Charging the Cabin Scooter can be done from both the inside and outside. The inside port is located on the tiller column on the right hand side. To charge the vehicle, simply connect the supplied charge cable to the port. There is no difference in the speed at which the Cabin Scooter charges compared to the external charge port.

    9.18 External Charge Port The external charge port can be used to charge the Cabin Scooter even when the Cabin Scooter is locked. The port and supplied cable are weatherproof, but in heavy storms it is not recommended for use. Open the port cover, and lift the dust cap to access the port.

    9.19 Window Controls The windows in your Cabin Scooter can be rolled down to allow air to flow through the cabin. Each window is individually controlled by a winding mechanism located below the window. For safety reasons the wide windows will not lower all the way, rather they will stop a few inches from the bottom of the window.

    10 Maintenance 10.1 Replacing Bulbs LEDs are longer lasting than traditional bulbs, but they will eventually fail. Replacement bulbs can be purchased from the company that supplied your Cabin Scooter. Replacing bulbs should only be done by a certified retailer, as it involves dismantling units that should be properly resealed.

    10.4Tyre Pressures The tyres on the Cabin Scooter are designed to give a good balance between comfort and fuel efficiency. Incorrectly inflated tyres may lead to poor handling, reduced range and increased wear on the tyres. The tyre should always have at least 3mm of tread to provide adequate grip on the road surface.

    10.5Cleaning 10.5.1 Cabin Scooterpets The interior Cabin Scooterpets of the Cabin Scooter should be cleaned using a vacuum cleaner with an upholstery brush attached. For stains, a mild mixture of upholstery soap and water may be used, ensuring that the area is thoroughly dried afterwards.

    If a manufacturing defect is found, it must be reported to the dealer from which the Cabin Scooter was purchased within 28 days in writing. Items considered to have a limited lifespan including Batteries, Tyres and Windscreen wipers will not be covered if they are deemed to have undergone excessive wear and tear, or misuse.

    13 Servicing Intervals The Cabin Scooter should be serviced every 12 months in order to keep it in safe working order. We recommend recording the services dates and locations on the sheets below. Always have your Cabin Scooter serviced at an authorised retailer, using original parts.
