OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
! WARNING ! – READ THIS SECTION
CAREFULLY BEFORE USING THIS EQUIPMENT/
APPARATUS.
3.1
Before connecting the main compressed air
supply, check the operation of the remote
control handle and ensure that the handle
safety lock button or lever lock is operational
and that the handle lever is free in its action.
3.2
Ensure that all hose fittings are secured and
coupling safety locking pins are engaged.
3.3
It is recommended that all Tandem Remote
Control Inlet Valves should be supplied with a
1-1/4" bore or larger compressed air line to
provide adequate air supply and volume.
3.4
Connect the twinline hose from the marked (IN)
port of the remote control handle to a live air
source. Proceed to connect the second twinline
hose from the remote control handle marked
(OUT) port to the Tandem Remote Inlet Valves
pilot air activation port.
3.5
Ensure the Tandem Remote Control valve is
installed correctly with arrow sign pointing
towards incoming compressed air flow. Refer to
to picture shown below.
3.6
Start the compressor and slowly open the main
air supply ball valve to the blast pot.
3.7
Depress the safety lever lock or safety lock
button on the remote control handle assembly
and depress the lever handle. This will activate
the remote control handle and send a return
signal to the Tandem Remote Control Inlet
Valve, opening the inlet valve, which will then
initiate the abrasive blasting process.
3.8
Release the remote control handle lever to stop
blasting; this automatically engages the safety
lock preventing inadvertent operation of the
remote control handle. This in turn closes the
Tandem
Remote
terminates the compressed air from flowing
through the Tandem valve.

MAINTENANCE
! WARNING !
SHUT DOWN MODE AND THE COMPRESSED
Control
Inlet
Valve
and
THE SYSTEM MUST BE IN
AIR DISCONNECTED BEFORE PERFORMING
ANY MAINTENANCE WORK. FAILURE TO DO
SO MAY RESULT IN PREMATURE ACTIVATION
OF THE SYSTEM THAT MAY CAUSE SERIOUS
INJURY OR DEATH.
4.1
Periodically the valve should be disassembled
and checked for wear and tear, on the
diaphragm, shaft and O-rings. Check for any
premature wear of the diaphragm and scoring
of the shaft, if either shows signs of wear, they
or the valve should be replaced.
4.2
Check the valve body for wear and tear, and
inspect the condition of the seat gasket for
cracking, replace as required.
4.3
Check the condition of the spring for wear and
tear, if there are signs of wear and tear, this
should be replaced.
4.4
Check the condition of the IN & OUT threads of
each port to ensure they are not worn and
functional.

TROUBLE SHOOTING GUIDE
PROBLEM
Unable to start
blasting
operations.
Blasting operation
cannot be shut
down or stopped.

PROBABLE SOLUTION
Make sure that the twinline hoses
have been connected in the correct
configuration.
Check the main air supply.
Check the blast nozzle for any
blockages.
Check if the pop up valve is fully
lifted, if a rattle or hovering can be
detected there is insufficient air
supply.
Make sure that there are no air
leaks in the twinline hoses.
Check the orifice of the nipple in
the supply fitting to the handle and
ensure that it is not blocked.
Check if there is air escaping from
the
exhaust
valve
when
deadman
remote
handle
depressed. If so, the diaphragm
should be inspected for wear and
tear, replace as required. Also
check and ensure that the rubber
gasket in the seat holder is not
worn.
Verify that the twinline hoses have
been connected to the remote
control handle correctly. Check that
the supply line is connected to the
handle (IN) fitting and signal line to
the handle (OUT) fitting.
Check for and ensure that the
remote control handle plunger is
not jammed or faulty.
If the blasting cannot be stopped
when the remote control handle
has been released and the blast pot
continues to blast then it is likely
that the shaft in the tandem valve
has seized up. Disassemble and
check the shaft, O-rings, spring,
diaphragm and housing bore.
