e. Packaging / Storage / Transport / Unpacking Each unit, after factory checks and tests, is packaged in a wooden box and stored in a warehouse with optimum conditions for delivery. This appliance must be stored in a covered, frost-free room with high and low ventilation. When it is transported, it must be fixed vertically and strongly in its original packaging until the place of installation.
HYDRAULIC CONNECTION & GAS a. Hydraulic Connection Revert to Figures 7.1 - 7.4 to visualise the schematics of some of the main features to link the hydraulic connections. The correct installation of the tank is the responsibility of the installer. Ensure that each unit and the associated pipe work are suitably earthed. Legend : 1.

appliance draught diverter and must be installed in accordance with the requirements of BS 5440: Part 1, BS 6644 or IGE/UP/10 as appropriate. The complete flue system must be designed so as to safely evacuate the products of combustion from the appliance. The flue pipe should rise for at least 500mm vertically from the draught diverter connection before any change in direction.
10. ELECTRICAL CONNECTION Wiring external to the appliance must be in accordance with the I.E.E. Wiring Regulations and any Local Regulations which apply. Wiring must be completed in heat resistant cable of 1.0mm cross sectional area. The heater is supplied for connection to a 230volt, 50 Hz, A.C. Single phase. Fuse rating is a 3 amp.
Note - the NHREX 18 has self energising controls and only requires an electrical supply to support the integral Protech electronic anode system. A permanent electrical supply is required to ensure that the Protech system is energised and protecting the tank. 11.

connections provided for the connection of the T&P valve and the expansion relief valve must not be used for any other purpose. The mains water supply pressure must not exceed 25bar. The T & P valve must be installed on the hot water outlet on the top of the appliance.
Page 24
2 Expansion Vessel pre-charge Pressure It is the responsibility of the installer to check the air pre-charge pressure before installation and adjust as necessary to 3.5bar. 3 Expansion Vessel Capacity The capacity of the expansion vessel supplied as part of the unvented kit, is nominally sized to accommodate the capacity of the cylinder with which it was supplied plus a nominal system pipework volume of approximately 17.5% of the cylinder capacity.
Figure 12.5 - safe discharge of pipes Secondary Circulation It is recommended that long dead legs are avoided and that a secondary circulation system is installed as shown in Figures 7.1 - 7.4. De-stratification Where there is no, or poor secondary circulation it is highly recommended to install a de- stratification loop utilising all components as would be installed in a secondary circulation system.

To do this: o Close the gas by the stopcock. o Switch off the power supply o Remove the burner o Disconnect the pilot tube and replace the pilot injector (NHREX 18), o Change the burner injectors & replace the sealing washers, On the NHRE X 18, it is necessary to adjust the pressure downstream of the gas valve with a manometer pressure gauge or a column of water.
14. CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE The cleaning of the appliance will occasionally be required and should only be undertaken with a damp cloth. The manufacturers guarantee of the appliance is subject to the following recommendations. ! Monthly operation o Check that the security valve is functioning by using the lever. This valve needs to be clean of any impurities and ensure that water is correctly evacuated when in use.
o Unscrew the two screws securing the burner, lower the burner and pull it horizontally from the combustion chamber. Note:- Take care so as not to damage the pilot assembly o Check the condition of the burner flame strips o Check the condition of the injectors o Check the condition of the pilot assembly, electrodes (NHREX 26-60) and thermocouple (NHREX 18) and clean where necessary o Check the function of the piezo igniter ensuring a spark is present (NHREX...
d. Tips & Recommendations o Any intervention on the burner must be performed by a competent person. o After each intervention check the soundness of each element. To do so, it is recommended to use a leak detection fluid. o The gas soundness can be validated up to the injector outlet. 15.
