    WHAT DO YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE INSTALLING YOUR DEVICE Before you can connect your DataRemote DRI-9080 device to the Internet and use it, you must have access to high-speed Internet. A high-speed Internet connection can be accessed through DSL, cable modem, and/or a leased line.

    Connect the WAN port of your device to a modem, switch, router or Internet source with an Ethernet cable (RJ-45). DISCLAIMER: This is just a representation of a modem.   • Page 8 Connect the LAN port on your device with an Ethernet cable (RJ-45) to your equipment or computer that needs to receive an Internet connection from the DataRemote DRI-9080 device. Your device allows you to connect one (1) device. STEP 4 Connect the RJ-11 (Phone line) from your phone or equipment requiring a phone line to one of the DataRemote DRI-9080 device’s FXS ports.

    If Fire Alarm Panel included in install, test that Fire Alarm Panels primary & secondary lines accordingly, by calling out through the DataRemote DRI-9080 device. If RJ-31 style jack is used, verify that tip/ring connections are on pins 4 & 5 of jack.

  • Page 12: Phase 1 - Dataremote Dri-9080 Device Assembly/Pre-Test + Fire Panel Location

    ASSEMBLE THE DATAREMOTE DRI-9080 DEVICE TO PRE-TEST: 1. Remove the DRI-9080 device: 2. Insert power cord into power outlet (located on the rear right side of the DRI-9080 device). Plug the power cord into an AC power outlet. 3. Once the DataRemote DRI-9080 device is plugged int, install the device mounting screws in the selected location.
  • Page 13 4. If step 3 successful record the calling phone number in the Checklist for this site as Phone 1's (primary) new DRI-9080 number. Repeat steps 1 - 4 accordingly using the phone 2-8 line ports of the DataRemote DRI-9080 device (if the lines are voice lines.) TESTING FIRE PANEL.
  • Page 14 WARNING! DO NOT TOUCH THE EXISTING RJ-31 POTS JACKS NEAR FIRE PANEL UNLESS INSTRUCTED TO DO SO. Once the Fire Alarm Panel is located, you will need to connect the DataRemote DRI-9080 device’s 2 phone ports configured for Alarm respectively with the Fire Alarm Panel's primary & secondary phone line ports preferably utilizing the existing cabling already connecting those ports to their current POTS lines.

Mark cables: • Mark the DataRemote DRI-9080 device’s alarm line 1 port's phone cord with a "1" or "P" to reflect its connection to the DataRemote DRI-9080 device's alarm line if it is inadvertently removed it is clear where to reconnect it.
  • Page 16 Testing Fire Alarm communication over DataRemote DRI-9080 device. (See following page) The DataRemote DRI-9080 device will be set in auto alarm mode, meaning it will detect what type of supported protocol the panel communicates in (Contact-ID, SIA, Pulse...Etc.) NOTE: DO NOT PLUG IN A BUTT SET TO THE DRI-9080 DEVICE AND MAKE A TEST CALL ON ANY OF THE ALARM LINES AS THIS WILL DEACTIVATE THE AUTO DETECT MODE.
