    This operating manual (hereinafter referred to as OM) is intended to describe the structure, operating principles, technical specifications and service of Course Translator DAC-109 (hereinafter referred to as the Product, the DAC). In addition to the instructions given in this document, the safety regulations and rules applicable in the field shall be observed.

    Operating manual DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION OF THE PRODUCT ESCRIPTION The Product converts digital heading data received in NMEA format into syn- chrosignals required to control analog repeaters and other selsyn-based equipment. The DAC may be used as a digital repeater to display the current heading data. AIN TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS 1.2.1 Technical specifications of the Product are represented in Table 1.

    Operating manual ESCRIPTION AND OPERATION OF THE RODUCT 1.3.1 Description The Product receives digital heading value from NMEA 0183 signal sources and converts it into output sine-wave voltage in order to connect selsyn-receiver windings. Herewith the amplitude of oscillations is set up in such a way that the selsyn-receiver will take a position according to the received digital heading value.

  • Page 16 Course Translator DAC-109 2.3.2 Operation mode of the Product Once the power is supplied, the DAC transfers to operation mode. In this mode LCD displays 2 heading values: a) received heading value from NMEA signal source (e.g., digital gyrocompass); b) current heading value on the analog signal receivers (e.g., repeaters connected to the DAC).

Ratio Choice Selection of ratio between ship turn and selsyn rotation of analog receiver. Ratios to set: 1:36, 1:60, 1:90, 1:180, 1:240, 1:360. Channel Select A user can select the main channel to receive heading data in digital NMEA 0183 sentences.

  • Page 22 Course Translator DAC-109 2.3.7 Debugging and diagnostics tools 2.3.7.1 Imitation of digital gyrocompass To facilitate debugging of the Product and connected repeaters it ensures the spe- cial mode of digital gyrocompass imitation. In this mode the Product ignores the heading data being received from NMEA 0183 signal sources and processes heading data which a user enters using the keyboard.
