UIDE ON THE CONFIGURATION AND CONNECTION OF THE

ECHO SOUNDER
This document describes the screen navigation in FieldGenius to set the options and configure the
SonarMite BTX echo sounder to work with a GNSS receiver.
The GNSS receiver provides a geodetic position at the receiver antenna location. When configured
the SonarMite echo sounder will provide a depth reading to the bottom of a body of water when a
GNSS measurement is triggered. The antenna height can be set between the measure point on the
GNSS receiver and the measure point of the echo sounder to provide a depth to the bottom of the
water body. Alternatively a water elevation can be defined in FieldGenius and the depth sounder
measurement applied to the water elevation setting. The antenna setting in this case is from the water
surface to the measure point on the depth sounder.
The GNSS receiver should be configured and running following standard procedures in FieldGenius.
The Depth Sounder should then be configured and connected to before taking measurements.
The depth sounder needs to be installed and configured following the depth sounder manufactures
instructions. FieldGenius will read the distance to the bottom of the body of water provided by the
depth sounder when a GNSS measurement is made. It is the users responsibility to setup and
configure the depth sounder.
For continuous measurements the GNSS receiver should be configured to use the auto record points
mode on the GNSS measurement modes screen.
