TROUBLESHOOTING TABLE

Probable Cause
High inlet air flow
Inlet air temperature above design spec
Poor pre-filtration
Inlet air pressure below design spec
Desiccant contaminated
be clogged
Back pressure in regenerating chambers
APV valve leaking
No input power
Controller failure
Low inlet pressure
Desiccant dusting
Inlet pre-filter dirty
High inlet flow rate
Outlet filter dirty
Desiccant diffuser screens clogged
Purge muffler clogged
Desiccant diffuser screens clogged
Restrictive purge exhaust piping
Remedy
Reduce inlet air flow
Reduce inlet air temperature to design spec
Check pre-filter element, replace if needed
Increase pressure to the dryer
Replace desiccant
Dismantle outlet APV valve, and clean out the orifice
Mufflers are clogged, install new mufflers
Check pilot valve and pilot air supply, dismantle and clean
exhaust valve, check flow control valve attached to purge
exhaust valve actuator may not be adjusted properly (should
be adjusted so exhaust valve opens within a 8-12 minute
time period)
Dismantle and clean, replace seals and piston if needed
Check that dryer is on with correct voltage
Check, replace if needed
Increase inlet pressure to design pressure
High inlet flow velocities due to high flow
Inspect and replace as needed
Reduce inlet flow rate to meet dryer spec
Inspect and replace as needed
Inspect and clean as needed
Clean and replace if needed
Inspect and clean as needed
Clean and replace with larger pipe if required
