How to maintain the accuracy of your Smart
Ear
We developed and tested our thermometers for maximum accuracy around typical human body
temperatures ranges:
Between 95 ℉ and 107.6 ℉
Between 35 ℃ and 42 ℃
If you notice or suspect inaccurate readings from your Smart Ear, follow these steps to fix the
issue:
1. Make sure the tip of the Smar Ear thermometer is clean. First, remove the cap. Using a
cotton swab with alcohol, gently circle it around the inner sensor area at the tip of the
Smart Ear. Be sure to clean the inner flat surface of the sensor - not just the rim (see
picture below).
2. To ensure an accurate temperature reading for children 1 year or older, and adults, gently
tug the ear straight up and back, then snugly insert the tip into the ear canal and press the
large button. Per the U.S. Mayo Clinic,
newborns.
3. Remove the batteries for one minute and then reinsert them. This will allow the Smart
Ear's internal components to reset which can fix accuracy issues.
4. Lastly, perform a factory reset your Smart Ear by holding down the large power button
and the small button on the left side for about ten seconds. Let it power all the way off
before you pair and take a new reading.
