Use must be strictly observed as they are extremely important to ensure safety during installation, use and maintenance of the Vaporizer. Please keep this brochure in a safe place for future reference. You may download the current Instructions for Use for the HERBIE on www.vapeengineering.com.
Hybrid-Verdampfer: Hybrid vaporizers use both methods (convection and conduction) of heating explained above, to have the pros of every method. The Vape Engineering Herbie is a hybrid vaporizer Drip tip / 810er Anschluss: A Drip Tip is the mouthpiece of an e-cigarette. It is placed on top of the atomizer / vaporizer and is usually made of plastic or metal.
3.2 Explanation of Symbols Please follow these instructions carefully! Safety recommendations! In order to avoid injuries to persons and damage to the equipment, it is mandatory to observe instructions marked with this symbol. Note/Tip! This symbol always gives you technical information or useful tips regarding the Vaporizer.
Never allow the Vaporizer to be used by children or unqualified persons. • Only use original Vape Engineering accessories and spare parts. The manufacturer is not responsible for any damage or personal injury caused by inappropriate, incorrect or irresponsible use.
It is important to observe the following instructions in order to set the HERBIE Vaporizer with the plant material in the best possible way for your personal requirements. The HERBIE Vaporizer is not FDA approved.
7.2 Cleaning before first use The HERBIE evaporator is delivered clean of all manufacturing residues. However, it is recommended to clean all stainless steel parts / the mouthpiece before first use and regularly by rinsing with warm water. Make sure to dry all parts afterwards.
8.1 Connecting to a box mod To connect the Vape Engineering HERBIE to a Mod, line up the threads at the bottom of vaporizer with the female threads of the box mod. Turn clockwise until firm.
Page 13
Make sure that the heating element is securely clamped in the positions provided. Once you have replaced the old heating element with the new one, the housing can be remounted on the base. Now reconnect the HERBIE Vaporizer to the box mod. (This is the only way to avoid burnings) Caution! Hot surfaces! Make sure that your box mod recognizes the resistance of the new heating element.
8.3 Filling the herb chamber To fill the filling chamber with your favorite herbs, unscrew the top cap. There you can see the lower net of your herb chamber. This is the place where your herbs should be placed. Fill the chamber with your preferred amount, but only up to the upper edge of the lower screen clamp.
8.4 Adjusting the airflow After the HERBIE Vaporizer is installed on the box mod, rotate the housing of the Vape Engineering HERBIE in any direction to adjust the airflow. The less of the intake ventilation visible, the more restricted the draw will become and vice versa.
8.5 Replacing the lower mesh As already described in chapter "Filling the herb chamber", it is necessary to replace the meshes of the filling chamber from time to time. CAUTION! Hot surfaces! Always disconnect the Vaporizer from the box mod each time you disassemble it! Let the Vaporizer cool down before disassembly! Remove the top cap and disconnect the base from the housing.
Remove the lower mesh clamp. Now the mesh can be replaced by a new one. Only use original Vape Engineering parts. Meshes are available as accessories. Once the new screen is inserted into the shell, the lower mesh clamp can be reinstalled. Now reassemble the shell with the housing.
Now connect the vaporizer to the box mod again. 8.7 Heating up The HERBIE evaporator is an on demand Vaporizer. The Vaporizer does not require any heating time. The vaporizer must never be used without airflow, as there is a risk of burning the material to be vaporized.
For hygienic reasons, it is also necessary to clean these components when the Vaporizer is to be used by a different person. 10.1 Disassembling the HERBIE Vaporizer The following is a step-by-step description of how to disassemble the HERBIE Vaporizer. Remove all plant parts from the filling chamber before disassembling. CAUTION! Hot surfaces!
Page 20
Step 1: The mouthpiece is held in the 810 connection by two O-rings only. This can be pulled out. The two O-rings each sit in a groove in the drip tip. They can be removed from the mouthpiece using the slotted screwdriver supplied.
Page 21
Step 3: To remove the mesh from the top cap, use the Allen wrench provided. Insert this into one of the two holes of the upper mesh clamp and unscrew it. Now the mesh can also be easily removed. Step 4: Now the housing can be screwed off the base. As soon as you have separated it, you can press the shell out of the housing from below.
Page 22
Step 5: To further disassemble the shell, pull the lower mesh clamp out of the shell. Tip: The parts are manufactured very precisely. I.e. even slight tilting can already lead to problems. Therefore, while pulling the lower mesh clamp, try to turn it at the same time. Once you have removed the lower mesh clamp, you can simply press the mesh out.
Page 23
Step 6: To remove the air control, pull it off. Underneath is an O-ring, which can be removed with the small slotted screwdriver. Step 7: Disassembly of the heating element. Use the Allen wrench provided and remove the two set screws from the base.
Page 24
Step 8: The two brackets of the heating element are now loose in the base. They can be removed. Step 9: Use the slotted screwdriver to remove the connector screw.
Page 25
Step 10: Once the connecotr screw has been removed, the pole screw is visible. This has a milled recess next to the thread. There the slotted screwdriver can be used to remove it. Step 11: Remove the insulator of the pole screw. This is plugged onto the pole screw and can be pulled off.
Page 26
Step 12: The insert is held only by the pole screw. If this has been removed, the insert can be taken out of the socket. Step 13: In the last step you remove the insulator of the base. This is only inserted into the base and can be easily removed.
There are two main reasons for using the ByPass-Air-Kit. The first reason is that the vapor is still too hot for the user despite the glass mouthpiece. The second reason is that the HERBIE Vaporizer with the glass mouthpiece is too conspicuous. The installation of a shorter mouthpiece would bring the look...
Page 28
The ByPass-Air-Kit consists of a top cap with an additional fresh air supply. Thus the hot vapor is mixed with fresh air and cooled at the same time. The ByPass-Air-Kit has an additional control ring with which the amount of fresh air for mixing can be regulated. ByPass-Air-Kit-Top Cap ByPass-Air-Kit O-Ring...
Page 29
Replacing the upper mesh) The mesh and mesh clamp ring must now be fitted into the top cap of the ByPass-Air-Kit using the 1.5mm Allen wrench supplied. (See chapter: Replacing the upper mesh). Now the ByPass-Air-Kit can be mounted on the HERBIE Vaporizer.
11.2 18.8 Top Cap CAUTION! Hot surfaces! Always disconnect the Vaporizer from the box mod each time you disassemble it! Let the Vaporizer cool down before disassembly! Glass water filters are often used to cool the vapor much more efficiently. These usually have a standardised (usually 18.8.) standard ground joint at the connecting piece.
Page 31
The next step is to remove the upper mesh and the mesh clamp ring from the standard cover. (See chapter: Replacing the upper mesh) The mesh and the mesh clamp ring must now be mounted in the 18.8. top cap using the supplied 1.5mm Allen wrench.
The 18.8. top cap also has the same 810 connection as the standard top cap. So it is possible to mount the mouthpiece directly on the 18.8. top cap. 11.3 Chamber reduction CAUTION! Hot surfaces! Always disconnect the Vaporizer from the box mod each time you disassemble it! Let the Vaporizer cool down before disassembly! As described in chapter “Filling the herb chamber”, the filling chamber should always be completely filled for efficient vaporization.
Page 33
Tip: The parts are manufactured very precisely. I.e. even slight tilting can already lead to problems. Therefore, while pulling the lower mesh clamp, try to turn it at the same time. Tip: It is recommended to replace the lower mesh immediately after the HERBIE Vaporizer has been disassembled so far.
Page 34
In this step the lower mesh clamp is replaced by the chamber reduction. This has a smaller inner diameter, which makes the filling chamber smaller. (The chamber reduction is shown in green in the following picture) In the following the comparison between normal filling chamber and the filling chamber with the chamber reduction is shown.
Vape Engineering will decide at its own discretion whether to correct a defect covered by warranty law through repair or by delivering a new product to the customer.
