Instructions for Use
1. Before attaching cartridges or filters to the respirator, make sure
the gaskets around the base of the holder are properly seated. An
improperly seated gasket may appear twisted or out of its slot. Reset
the gasket if necessary. An improperly seated gasket may cause a
respirator to leak.
2. To attach cartridges or high efficiency filters to the respirator, hold
the respirator facing toward you, place the cartridge or filter over the
facepiece, lining up the three lines on the cartridge with the three
lines on the facepiece. While pressing inward, rotate the cartridge 1/4
turn clockwise until a click is felt.
3. Place filter (if needed) inside the retainer. The printed side of the filter should face toward the
cartridge. The need for a filter should be determined by your supervisor, industrial hygienist or
safety professional.
4. Place the retainer with the filter inside over the cartridge and press until the retainer is sealed
securely. The filter must lie flat against the cartridge and completely cover the entire area of the
cartridge. If the retainer is not secured properly the respirator may leak.
5. To attach pancake filters to the respirator, hold the respirator facing toward you, place the filter
over the facepiece lining up the three slots on the filter with the three prongs on the facepiece.
While pressing inward, rotate the cartridge 1/4 clockwise until a click is felt.
Inspection Procedure
This respirator must be inspected before each use to insure it is in good condition. If there are any
damaged or defective parts, the respirator should not be worn.
1. Check the facepiece for cracks, tears, and damage. Pay close attention to the facepiece seal and
gaskets, making sure they are not distorted and that they are seated properly.
2. Examine the inhalation and exhalation valves for signs of distortion, tearing or cracking. Inspect
valve seat for dirt or cracking.
3. Examine the head harness, making sure that it is intact and has proper elasticity.
Fitting Instructions
The Safety Works Full Facepiece Respirator must be put on outside the contaminated area. Follow
fitting instructions each time the respirator is worn.
1. Use the adjustable buckles to loosen the head
harness completely.
2. Bring the mask up to the face. Using both hands
put the harness over the head and pull both
straps back at the same time. Straps should be
tightened first at the cheeks, then temples and
lastly, the forehead.
3. When correctly positioned, the edge of the mask
seal exerts a uniform pressure as it surrounds the face.

Initial Respirator Fit Test
A qualitative or quantitative respirator fit test must be conducted on each wearer prior to assignment
of this respirator. Respirator fit test procedures are explained in government publications or in
American National Standards for Respiratory Protection (ANSI Z88.2-2015). Fit tests should be
performed annually or more frequently if dental surgery, weight change or other factors occur which
may affect the respirator fit.
Positive/Negative Facefit Check
Conduct a positive and a negative facefit check each time the respirator is worn.
Positive Pressure Facefit Check
Place palm of hand over exhalation valve
cover and exhale gently. If the facepiece bulges
slightly and no air leaks between the face and
facepiece are detected, the fit is considered
satisfactory. If face seal air leakage is detected,
re-position the respirator on the face and/or
readjust the tension of the elastic straps to
eliminate leakage. Repeat the positive pressure
facefit check.
• If you cannot attain a proper facefit, do not enter the contaminated area. See your supervisor
immediately.
• Do not use this respirator if you have a beard, facial hair or other physical characteristics that may
prevent direct contact between the face and the edge of the respirator.
• Do not wear spectacles other than those approved for the Safety Works® Full Facepiece Respirator.
Maintenance, Assembly & Storage Instructions
A. Disassembly
1. Detach cartridges and/or filters.
2. Disassemble the harness by removing the buckles from the facepiece.
3. Remove nose cup.
4. Unscrew inside lock ring.
5. Remove the exhalation valve assembly.
B. Cleaning and Sanitizing
1. Prepare a solution of cleaner or sanitizer according to its instructions. Scrub with a soft brush
until clean. Do not use cleaners containing lanolin, oils or liquids which may affect rubber or
plastic parts.
2. Rinse in fresh warm water and air dry in a non-contaminated atmosphere.
3. Respirator components, especially exhalation valve and seat, must be cleaned carefully. Rinse
under running water and air dry, avoiding exposure to solar or artificial heat.
4. The rubber parts must be dried at room temperature.
5. After cleaning the components, make a visual check and, if necessary, replace any damaged or
worn parts. Carefully check rubber gaskets and exhalation valves.
6. Assemble the components in reverse order.
7. Check that all parts are correctly mounted.
C. Storage
It is recommended that the mask be stored in its original packaging in a cool dry place. It should be
protected from heat, direct sunlight, intense cold, humidity, dust or other 0substances, which might
damage its materials.
D. Spectacle Assembly
Compress the wire on the spectacle kit and place it into the respirator allowing it to expand in place.
Negative Pressure Facefit Check
Place palms of hands over the faces of both
cartridges to restrict air flow. Inhale gently. If
you feel the facepiece collapse slightly and
pull closer to the face with no leaks between
the face and facepiece, a proper fit has been
obtained. If face seal air leakage is detected,
re-position the respirator on the face and/or
readjust the tension of the elastic straps to
eliminate leakage. Repeat the above steps until
a tight face seal is obtained.
