    Overview ColorSense is a marvelously interactive yet deceptively simple effect every performer should have in their repertoire, ideally suited for close up and parlor performances. ColorSense comprises of a highly authentic crayon box with embedded electronics that detects crayons as they are removed from the crayon box in real-time.

    Switching On/Off To turn ColorSense On, open the bottom flap of the crayon box and press the On/Off switch located to the left of the USB socket. The Green LED will flash once to indicate that ColorSense is powering up. If the Red LED Flashes when attempting to power up ColorSense, this indicates that the battery is fully discharged, and ColorSense needs to be charged.

    Operation Within the crayon box is an ABS plastic crayon guide/frame that contains a sophisticated electronic board and also six motion sensors. Also internally within the crayon box, on the opposite side is a black material opposite the motion sensors. The sensors detect whether the crayons are in place by monitoring the difference between color and black (measuring the reflected light).

    Thumper The Thumper receives messages from Dice, Dominoes, Poker Chips, Pen Sense, ColorSense, Magneto, and Second Sight. The Thumper will vibrate to indicate the selected crayon. ColorSense transmits the details of the crayon removed as the motion sensor detects the missing crayon as the sensor now “sees” the black panel within the crayon box.

    Notifier Notifier receives messages from Dice, Dominoes, Poker Chips, Pen Sense, ColorSense, Magneto, and Second Sight. The most recent notification will be displayed on the screen. For example, if the spectator rolls a Red Dice with a result of three, then this be displayed on the screen. If you then use Second Sight to scan an RFID playing card, then this result will override the display.

    Status Notifications When a crayon is removed from the crayon box, the Notifier will display the associated color on its screen. Low Battery Notifications The Unifi devices broadcast their status every minute to Notifier. Should the battery level fall below 20% for any Unifi device, then Notifier will display the device description, followed by the message “Low Battery”.

    Unifi App Status Screen The Status Screen provides a consolidated list of events generated from your Unifi devices. This includes events from devices, such as Dice, Dominoes, Poker Chips, Magneto, Color Sense, Pen Sense, and Second Sight, and also includes notifications from the TOXIC Calculator, the integrated Search function and third-party platforms such as Inject.

    Registered Mode Unifi may operate in registered or unregistered mode. If you want your Thumper to ONLY respond to YOUR devices, then you run the system in registered mode. If you would like your Thumper to respond to ANY Unifi device, then you run the system in unregistered mode.

  • Page 24 Routines ColorSense enables you to perform a “Color Matching” routine, so that the spectator, through subtle directions by the performer, creates a duplicate color image as the prediction. The performer draws a picture of his prediction and colors it in before placing it into a sealed envelope.

    System Programming A variety of system parameters may be changed with the system programming interface, built into ColorSense. Generally, system programming options do not need to be changed. However, there may be situations where you would like to update certain parameters for specific effects. When you connect ColorSense to your Windows PC, your PC will automatically download the appropriate driver in the background.

Enter the programming mode in ColorSense by following the instructions outlined in “Connecting to ColorSense with your PC” and selecting option 8 (Firmware upgrade).
