Take care when handling or cleaning the dome to avoid scratching the surface. • Always handle the dome by the outside edge of the flange or trim ring assembly.

    Installation & User Manual – Oncam C-12 Series 3. Camera Installation Placement and Orientation Camera placement is an important factor when planning your deployment. The Oncam C-12 camera has an exceptionally wide viewing angle. Consider the camera location for providing comprehensive coverage of a wide area.

Always face lighting away from the camera or above the camera installation line (if ceiling mounted). For low light conditions consider adjusting the Exposure Priority in the camera from the Web Interface.

This will stop rotation on the conduit screw thread and hold the camera onto the conduit screw thread.   • Page 47 Installation & User Manual - Oncam C-12 Series Figure 99 Cable Path to Screw Terminals 3.4.3.1 Input / Output Alarm output is provided by the screw terminal on the plus board. When an event occurs triggering an external alarm on the camera, the ALM OUT pin outputs a GND signal (Low).
  • Page 48 Installation & User Manual – Oncam C-12 Series 3.4.3.2 Audio Microphone The electret microphone and the connecting cable should be electrically floating to minimize noise and hum from ground loops. Coaxial cable is best for noise immunity, but if twisted pair cable must be used, make sure to use two wires from the same pair for the microphone.
  • Page 49 Installation & User Manual - Oncam C-12 Series Direct DC Input. Use only a UL/CSA-approved LPS or NEC Class 8-28 VDC, 15W LPS, power supply (not supplied). The power source must be connected with the correct polarity. Do not use an excess of 28 VDC from an external power supply. Doing so may damage the camera and void the warranty.

    To access the camera for the first time, you will need to discover the IP address of the camera. This can be discovered using your ONVIF compatible VMS (for a list of supported VMS partners please go to https://www.oncamgrandeye.com), the Oncam C-series Camera Configuration Tool (download from https://www.oncamgrandeye.com) or an IP Address scanning tool.

    Video Management Systems (VMS) 4.1.1.3.1 Discovery The camera's IP Address can be discovered by an ONVIF compatible VMS (for a list of supported VMS partners please visit https://www.oncamgrandeye.com/), however, before the VMS can communicate with the camera, the username and password for the Primary Administrator will need to be set via the Camera Web Interface or the C-series Camera Configuration Tool.

Figure 144 Media Profile Bit Rate Control 5.3.1.4.9.1 Constant Bit Rate Maintains the bit rate at a consistent level (+/- 10%) irrespective of image quality, therefore image quality may be decreased during periods of high motion.

This feature can also affect video playback as it may require playback to start earlier than required because video playback must always start from an I-frame.

Video Management Systems using ONVIF may need to be reconnected to the camera to update the list of frame rates, so it may help to make this change before adding the camera to such systems.

Dark areas need a longer exposure and therefore more light onto the film or sensor than the bright areas, so when both exist in the same scene, one of them loses out and detail is lost.
  • Page 87 Installation & User Manual - Oncam C-12 Series Low Light - Has slightly more generous shutter speeds in all but the brightest of conditions, maximizing image detail and reducing noise in exchange for slightly more motion blur in some conditions. Frame rate may be reduced to as low as 2 fps for optimum images in low light.
