. This guide will assist

you in proper installation and care of this innovative new product

that prolongs the proper flow of water through outdoor and indoor

pipe drains when leaves, grass, or other debris might otherwise lead

to clogging and expensive flooding. With proper maintenance,

DRAIN DEFENDER

can save you thousands of dollars and hours of

aggravation. Please follow the instructions in this guide to achieve

optimum performance.

where the elderly or young children may be present.

INSTALLATION

DRAIN DEFENDER

does not require any tools to install.

Before installing Drain Defender

, remove any leaves, grass or other debris from the area around the

drain. Use a garden hose to check whether the drain flows well when debris is not present. Proper

flow can be impeded by clogging inside the drain pipe, root penetration, or other issues that can't be

improved by Drain Defender

. Contact a qualified professional if the water drains slowly.

Remove the outer SHELL and the inner STRAINER from the box. Be sure the center hub of the

STRAINER is pressed firmly onto the center post of the SHELL as shown:

3) Place the assembly over the drain, inserting the GUIDE PIN on the bottom of the

STRAINER into one of the drain holes or slots close to the center of the drain grate.

NOTE: It's acceptable for the DRAIN DEFENDER

slots in the drain grate close to the center of the grate, cut the GUIDE PIN off with cutters or scissors,

and position the assembly approximately over the center of the drain grate.

WARNING:

The STRAINER is made from a flexible material to accommodate uneven surfaces

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

WARNING:

1) Periodically remove the DRAIN DEFENDER

the SHELL by grasping the GUIDE PIN and pulling the STRAINER free.

2) Use a garden hose to spray any collected debris from the SHELL and the STRAINER.

If debris has hardened due to exposure and is difficult to remove, soak both the SHELL and

the STRAINER in water until softened, then spray as needed to remove from holes and slots.

Scrub as needed with a soft brush.

3) Sweep and remove any leaves, grass, pine needles, or any other debris that may have collected in the

drain area and any adjacent stairwell.

4) Press the STRAINER back onto the center post on the underside of the SHELL, and return the

assembly to service as described in the INSTALLATION section of this User's Guide.

NOTE: Over time, the STRAINER may no longer fit tightly to the SHELL, or may show signs of deterioration
