How to Pair
Pairing is a procedure used to ensure that only compatible transmitters and receivers are allowed to
communicate for the purpose of controlling equipment. Every transmitter and receiver has a unique
device id, and these ids, along with other information, must be exchanged and verified before
equipment control is possible.
How do you tell if your transmitter or receiver is already paired? If you power up the transmitter and it is
not paired to any receiver, it will display the following:
If you power up the receiver and it is not paired to any transmitter, it will display the following LED
pattern (LEDs on solid):
For safety reasons, pairing is a manual operation, i.e. pairing never occurs without direct operator
intervention. Pairing is primarily done from the transmitter, but the receiver must also be put into a
special 'Pairing' mode. There are two ways to do this:
1. Remove the receiver's housing and press the TEACH button while the receiver is powered up, or
2. Move the transmitter close enough to the powered-up receiver (1-2") so one of the permanent
magnets in the transmitter housing can trigger a magnetic switch in the receiver. In the receiver, the
magnetic switch is behind the Omnex or Eaton logo. In the transmitter, the two magnets are located
inside the upper rear of the transmitter housing, immediately behind the magnet targets.
