The Sprinter is a light diesel rail passenger vehicle, manufactured specifically to transport passengers on
non-electrified lines. Twenty-two single-car railcars were ordered from A Goninan & Co, Broadmeadow
NSW. Construction commenced in March 1993 with the final unit supplied in January 1995 with a driver's
cab at each end it allows the vehicle to travel in either direction and may operate individually or in multiple
unit sets of up to eight vehicles. Each Sprinter is powered by two air-cooled Deutz BF8L513C turbocharged
V8 diesel engines. Power is transferred via a Voith T211RZ hydraulic transmission.
Care should be taken when removing and reinserting your model so as not to damage the air horns and/or
All models are lubricated in the factory and they do not require any further lubrication when initially
purchased. Lubrication of the gears should be carried out at approximately 6 month intervals, or after every
100 hours running. Only small amounts of lubricant are required as too much may cause damage to the
mechanism. Lubrication requires some disassembly of the gear boxes. It is strongly recommended that
only advanced modellers attempt to do so. Consult your local hobby shop for lubrication advice.
12 months warranty against manufacturing faults and defects from the date of purchase. This warranty
does not cover damage caused by mishandling, damage due to modification, or damage to any electrical
parts caused by fitting a DCC decoder and running on layout without approved electronic protection.
Note - This Sprinter Rail Car does not support DC running on DCC.
Your model comes equipped with a standard 21 pin DCC socket which can be accessed by removing the
body from the underframe. Gently lever the body from the small recess located in the centre of the
underframe. Remove the 21pin dummy plug and replace it with a decoder of your choice (ESU LocPilot or
V4 recommended). Ensure when decoder is inserted that pins are flush.
To install your choice of "sugar cube" speaker, the speaker recess is located at the 'toilet end' of the body
as shown in the attached diagram. Install speaker with the wires connected to the PCB Board as shown.
