Philips MCD900 Update Instructions

Introduction

Benefits:
1. Your MCD900 now supports Russian, simplified Chinese as well as traditional Chinese
language.
2. The USB hard disc drive (HDD) now has a "Safe Removal" feature. Before removing your
hard drive, press the "home" button on the remote for 2 seconds. The MCD900 will
provide a message when the device has been stopped allowing for safe removal of the hard
disc.
3. The scanning performance of the HDD has been improved. After the first scanning the
contents of your HDD, your hard disc will only be re-scanned when you change the content.
(Please note – the first scan of the content may take a significant amount of time due to
background processing).
The FM tuner stability has been improved for stations which provide fast changing RDS text.

How do I update the software on my device?
1. Download the new firmware image from
2. Unzip the downloaded file and copy the content to a USB-flash memory (stick) into the root
directory. (The USB-memory shall be with file format FAT-32). Do not rename any of the
files!
3. Insert the USB-memory stick into the MCD900 unit (socket is at the units backside)
4. In active mode, press the SETTINGS button on your device remote control.
5. Press to select Check for software upgrades, press OK.
6. It will then check on the USB-memory stick whether there is newer software available or
not.
