Updating the system software The Turbo 601 re q u i res ve rsion 7.5 or greater of Ap p l e ’s system softwa re . Because the Turbo 601 gi ves you the option of running in PowerPC mode or 68030 mode, you must have the system softwa re for both env i ronments. - Page 34 Open the pop-up menu and choose Custom Install. The Custom Install dia- log box appears. Cl i ck the tri a n g l e n ext to System Softwa re so the triangle points dow n . Select System for any Macintosh. Select any additional softwa re you wish to install.

Turbo 601 Control will provide a display of your current system info rmation by p ressing COMMAND-CONTROL and cl i cking on the Turbo 601 logo in contro l p a n e l ’s main screen. A dialog box similar to the one below will be displaye d : ROM Family: indicates the fa m i ly of the ROM installed in your machine. - Page 40 Virtual Memory: tells you whether Vi rtual Memory (either by Apple or Connectix) is on or off. 32/24-bit mode: shows whether the system is ru n n i n g in 32 or 24 bit mode. Instruction Cache: displays whether the instruction cache (internal to the CPU) is on or off.
