  • Page 4 Ventilation FLOOR PROTECTION This appliance must only be installed on the required brick kit. CHIMNEY CONNECTOR (STOVE PIPE) Your chimney connector and chimney must have the same diameter as the appliance outlet (10”). If this is not the case, we recommend you contact your dealer in order to insure there will be no problem with the draft.
  • Page 5 TESTING YOUR WOOD When the appliance is thoroughly warmed, place one piece of split wood (about five inches in diameter) perpendicular to the door on the bed of red embers. Keep the air control full open by sliding it right and close the door. If ignition of the piece is accomplished within 90 seconds from the time if was placed in the appliance, your wood is correctly dried.
  • Page 6 Maintenance And Safety FUEL STORAGE Wood can be dried sufficiently for burning within a few weeks if protected form rain in a low humidity area. It is far better to cut wood and allow it to dry for a year. In all cases, the wood should be stacked so that both ends of the sticks are exposed to the air and protected from rain.
  • Page 7 CHECKLIST OF DO’S AND DONT’S DO’S 1. Do check with local building officials to be sure the installation of the fireplace complies with all building codes and requirements and obtain required building permits. Do plan your installation with safety as you primary consideration.
  • Page 8 SEASONAL START UP Prior to starting the first fire of the heating season, check the outside area around the exhaust systems for obstructions. Clean and remove any fly ash from the exhaust venting system. Clean any screens on the exhaust system and on the outside air intake pipe.
