    CIB 3090 Display Console The Display Console (Figure 1) provides information that can help you handle calls and messages and program your voice terminal easily. If you have been away from your desk you can use the display unit when you return to retrieve messages that people in your system have left for you.
  • Page 3 This document contains instructions for installing the following com- ponents that come with the Display Console: handset (with handset cord attached) modular voice terminal cord desk stand power supply two button label sheets (for your MERLIN® II System with Feature Module 2) and one plastic cover plate NOTE: There are two different button label sheets provided, one for administration and one for call handling.
  • Page 4 Low angle Support Middle angle bar grooves High angle FIGURE 3 Console Mount (bottom view) Assembling Your Display Console ATTACHING THE DESK STAND Use the following instructions to attach the desk stand to your Display Console: Check to see that the desk stand is adjusted to the lowest position. The support bar (Figure 2) should be in the groove for the lowest position (Figure 3).

  • Page 6 Check to see that one end of the handset cord is attached to the handset. If it is not, plug one end into the handset now. Turn the Display Console bottom side up. Plug the other end of the handset cord into the jack on the bottom edge of the console. Thread one end of the modular voice terminal cord between the base of the desk stand and the bottom of the console and plug it into the jack labeled LINE (Figure 5).

Set the handset aside and turn the console upside down.
  • Page 8 The Button Label Sheet and Cover Plate The Display Console comes with one clear plastic cover plate and two different button label sheets for the MERLIN II System with Feature Module 2: A button label sheet for normal call handling (Figure 6). A white button label sheet is to be used for administration only (Fig- ure 7).

  • Page 11 INSERTING THE BUTTON LABEL SHEET AND COVER PLATE Refer to the following instructions to insert a button label sheet and cover plate. Grasp each end of the display cover (Figure 8) and pull it up. Remove it from the Display Console. Place the button label sheet on the console so that the holes in the sheet align with the buttons.
  • Page 12 REMOVING THE BUTTON LABEL SHEET AND COVER PLATE Refer to the following instructions to remove the button label sheet and cover plate. Grasp each end of the display cover and pull it towards you. Remove it from the console. Grasp the top corners of the clear plastic cover plate and push the sides towards the middle to curve it upwards to release the upper and side tabs (Figure 9).
  • Page 13 Testing Your Display Console Once you have installed your Display Console, you should test the lights and the ringing. Slide the T/P switch to the T position (Figure 10). The red and green lights next to your voice terminal buttons flash alter- nately, the voice terminal rings, and “Test Mode”...

    Adjusting the Volume Control The volume control lever, located on the left side of the console (Figure 10) changes the volume of the alerting rings, speaker and button clicks. Slide the lever away from you to increase the volume. Slide the lever towards you to decrease the volume. Adjusting the Clarity of the Display Turn the contrast thumbwheel (shown in Figure 10) up or down until the clarity you want is reached.
  • Page 15 Using Your Console’s Display Features The display in your Display Console provides various time-keeping func- tions, such as a clock, calendar, and an alarm. Depending on the partic- ular model of your communications system, additional display features may also be available for your use. Check with your system administra- tor to determine which of the following features are available with your Model 1030 or 3070 system with Feature Module 4 or 5.
  • Page 16 Caller ID When you receive an intercom call, the caller’s intercom number or an administered station label, such as the person’s name, appears on the screen. Clock/Date, Timer, and Alarm The time-keeping features on the Display Console allow you to set the clock and date, an alarm, and a timer.
  • Page 17 The labels, Timer, Alarm, and Set, correspond to the keys below the display. Touch Set to set the time. You see the following Clock Set Functions display: Touch Day repeatedly to set the day of the week. Touch Time. You see the following display: Use the Hour and Min arrow keys to set the time.
  • Page 18 Using the Timer When you need to time the length of an individual call, use the Timer feature on your console to display a 10-hour stopwatch. 1 At the Clock Functions display, touch Timer. You see the following Timer Functions display: To start the timer from 00:00, touch Start.
  • Page 19 Activating the Alarm To set the alarm to go off at the time you have specified: At the Alarm Functions display, touch Alrm On to activate the alarm. (A bell will appear to the right of the time on the display.) Touch Alrm Off to deactivate the alarm.
  • Page 20 Delivering a Message If you have programmed a Deliver Message button on your Display Con- sole, you can leave word that you have called at a display voice terminal that is busy or unattended. Before you hang up, touch a programmed Deliver Message button. If the message has been sent, this display appears on your screen.
  • Page 21 Touch a programmed Scroll button to read the second line of the message. The second line of the message shows the date the message was left. Returning A Call You can return the call to the person whose message is currently being displayed.
  • Page 22 Returning to the Time-keeping Display Touch Message or touch the button under Exit to see this screen. Number Dialed When you dial an outside, intercom, or account number, such as with the Account Number Entry feature, or touch a button that contains a number, such as an Outside Auto Dial, Auto Intercom, Last Number Redial, or Saved Number Redial button, the digits appear on the display screen.
  • Page 23 As you dial characters for the programming procedures, the characters appear on your screen. If you touch a button that has already been programmed, the display identifies the name of the feature on that button. The screen below shows that you have programmed the Last Number Redial feature on this voice terminal button.
