Let’s Get Started! Open your Lowrey Songbook to page 8 and place it on the music rack. MARIANNE is the song we will play for the following example. The following examples are provided to highlight the easy-play features of the Jubilee. These, and the rest of the wonderful features found on the Jubilee will be fully detailed in the other sections of this guide.

General Presets A popular Lowrey easy-play feature is the General Presets. These buttons, located in the center of the control panel, are numbered one through eight and are each a different color. Each General Preset sets the Jubilee up with a different sound. By simply pressing one button the...
All eight General Presets are factory set and cannot be erased. While using them you may wish to adjust volume levels, add different effects, select different sounds or add a rhythm style. Go ahead. RESET PRESETS All eight General Preset buttons can easily be reset to the original factory settings . Follow these steps: Press and hold the Memorize button. While holding the Memorize button press and release the Reset button. The panel lights will turn off.
Master Volume & Reverb MASTER VOLUME What It Does: Master Volume allows you to set the maximum overall volume of the organ. How It Works: The Master Volume control is two brown colored buttons located in the lower left corner of the button panel, below the Rhythm Plus Orchestration section.

REVERB What It Does: These two gray colored buttons control the amount of reverberation effect that is applied to the sounds of the organ. How It Works: Reverb adds depth and resonance to the sounds of the organ to electronically duplicate the echo-type effect that naturally occurs in settings such as churches, concert halls, and theatres.

ORCHESTRATED ACCOMPANIMENTS What It Does: The Lowrey Jubilee is capable of authentically recreating 32 fully orchestrated accompaniment patterns that we call “Styles” . These styles used in combination with the other sounds and effects found on the Jubilee allows one person to sound like an entire band or orchestra.
ORCH PLUS VOLUME What It Does: Earlier, the styles were described as being made of three elements, rhythm, bass and instrumental. Orch Plus Volume controls the volume level for the instru- mental portion (Genie and Orch Plus) of the styles. How It Works: To raise the volume of a style press the top button.
Pressing any blue Rhythm Plus Orchestration Style button (Big Band, Country, Polka...) acti- vates MCS and turns on the Lowrey Magic lights above the lower keyboard. The Memory, Orch Plus, and Start Stop buttons also light up. All these buttons work together to create an easy and fun to play instrument.

How To Use It: The following examples demonstrate how to form commonly used chords with MCS: MAJOR CHORD: To play a one-finger major chord, play the key on the lower keyboard that matches the letter name of the chord. For example, to play a “C MAJOR” chord (usually called a “C”...
SEVENTH CHORD: An MCS seventh chord requires that two keys be played. The first key matches the letter name of the chord. For the second key count down (to the left) two consecu- tive keys. Include any black keys when counting but do not count the key you started on. C Seventh Chord (C7) PLAYING HINTS: All you ever need to play are major and minor chords.
MEMORY What It Does: Memory holds the last (MCS) chord played on the lower keyboard after the key or keys have been released. How It Works: The Memory feature turns on when any Rhythm Plus Orchestration style is selected. To turn the Memory feature off press the lighted Memory button.
How To Use It: Press Rhythm Preset, Press a style button and play your song. It’s that easy. You may press other Upper, Orchestral and Solo sounds when using Rhythm Preset. Just remember that changing styles with the Rhythm Preset button on will change the melody sounds and the rhythm tempo.
Watch the Information Center window while the introduction is playing. The window will display the message “INTRODUCTION PLAYING”. Following this message will be a countdown, as shown below, of the introduction and a message telling you when to begin playing your song. INTRODUCTION PLAYING READY...
ORCH PLUS & GENIE What It Does: The Orch Plus (Orchestration Plus) and Genie features provide the fully-orchestrated accompaniment (a complete band or orchestra) for the styles. These two buttons allow you to choose how much of the band or orchestra you hear along with the bass and drum portions of a style.

AUTO BASS 1, 2 What It Does: Auto Bass is short for automatic bass and provides the bass accompaniment (foot pedals) portion of a Rhythm Plus Orchestration style. This is the feature that plays the bass pedals for you! The Jubilee offers two bass accompaniment variations for each Rhythm Plus Orchestration style: Auto Bass 1 and Auto Bass 2.
What It Does: FX adds fill-ins or musical breaks to a Rhythm Plus Orchestration style. How It Works: FX can be activated two ways: Press and briefly hold the FX button down while a style is playing. Press the switch on the right side of the Volume Pedal by sliding your foot to the right (volume pedal features and operation are detailed later in the book).
Information Center What It Does: The Information Center window displays data from many organ features: Rhythm Tempo, Rhythm Style, Chord, Bass Pedal, Song Title, Genius Sound, Features, Transpose and Preset Memorize. Information displayed and how it is beneficial is outlined in this section. How It Works: The most common items displayed in the Information Center window are Tempo, Chord and Pedal data.
Pressing the Easy button when MCS, Memory, and Auto Bass are all on will shut them off. SONG What It Does: The Jubilee organ has the 50 songs from the Lowrey Songbook wonderfully performed and stored in memory for playback at any time. The Jubilee allows you to play along with the songs, too! The Information Center window displays the song titles.
This allows you to play the upper keyboard along with the record- ed portion of the song. The music for the songs stored in the Jubilee are contained (in the same order) in the Lowrey Songbook that came with the organ. Play Along is a great practice tool!
Jubilee Song List The titles are listed below as they appear in the Information Center window. In some cases, it is not possible to display the complete song title in the window. The numbers listed do not appear. 1. AMAZING GRACE 26.
GENIUS What It Does: The Genius button provides a menu of 25 instrumental sounds that can be assigned to three different buttons on the organ: Orch Genius, Lower Genius, and Pedal Genius. How It Works: Press the Genius button. It will light up. The Information Center window will display...
TRANSPOSE What It Does: At the touch of a button Transpose moves the sound, or pitch, of the organ up or down. How It Works: With the Jubilee in the normal key of “C” - pressing the top Transpose button (triangle pointing up) causes it to light up and moves the sound of the organ up a musical half step each time the button is pressed.
Feature What It Does: The Feature button, in combination with the Scroll and Enter buttons, access a large number of organ functions. How It Works: Following is a numbered list of features found on the Jubilee that are accessed through the use of the Feature, Scroll, and Enter buttons.
The Features listed can be placed in one of three categories. ON/OFF: The Feature displayed in the Information Center window is turned on or off by pressing the Enter button. CHOICE: Use the Scroll buttons to display a desired selection with two or more options and then press Enter to select a specific option.
2. AOC ALL (on/off) What It Does: Turning the AOC ALL feature on applies the AOC harmony function (when the AOC panel button is on/illuminated) to Orchestral sounds as well as the Upper Flutes, Strings and Vocal. With the AOC ALL feature off, the AOC harmony function is not applied to Orchestral sounds when any Upper Flutes, Organ, Strings or Vocal sounds are selected.
3. ORCH OCTAVE (on/off) What It Does: The ORCH OCTAVE feature moves the sound of a selected Orchestral sound either one octave up or one octave down. The direction of the octave shift is determined by the sound used and is preset.
Then press the top Scroll (up) button three times. The information Center window will display... FEATURES: SOLO OCTAVE Press the Enter button. SOLO OCTAVE Repeat the steps above to turn the SOLO OCTAVE feature off. How To Use It: Use the SOLO OCTAVE feature to reverse the pitch of a Solo sound. High sounds are lowered one octave and low sounds are raised one octave.

The disk drive utilizes a 3.5” floppy disk in either a double density (2DD) or high density (2HD) configuration.

9. SAVE PRESETS (choice) What It Does: In the General Presets section of this book you were shown how to customize the contents of the eight General Preset buttons. This feature lets you save the group of customized eight presets (General Preset buttons 1-8) to a disk for storage and future use.

Press either Scroll button once. The Information Center window displays the below message with the YES flashing. OVERWRITE ? Press the Enter button to overwrite the previously saved presets with the newer ones. Use the lower keyboard keys to type a title for the group of presets. 10. DELETE PRESETS (choice) What It Does: This feature lets you remove individual groups of eight presets that have been previously saved on a disk. How It Works: In the following example Group 1 will be the name used. Press the Feature button. The Information Center window will display... To cancel the DELETE PRESETS procedure anytime during the process press the illuminated Feature button. The button light will turn off and the process will be canceled. Use the lower keyboard keys to type the new title. A keyboard overlay for the lower keyboard was provided with the organ. Place the overlay on the lower keyboard to make locating the let- ters easy and fast. The F# key with the arrow is the Shift key for upper case. The total number of character spaces available for the title is 16.
12. DELETE SONG What It Does: The Jubilee features a Music Recorder that enables you to record your organ performances. These performances can be stored on a 3.5” computer disk for future playback, as described in the Music Recorder section of this book. The DELETE SONG feature lets you remove previously saved individual songs from a disk.
Five seconds later the window returns to its normal display... TEMPO CHORD N.C. To cancel the DELETE SONG procedure anytime during the process press the illuminated Feature button. The button light will turn off and the process will be canceled. How To Use It: Use this feature to remove unwanted or unused songs that have been saved on a disk to make room for new ones.
OPTION: You may wish to replace an existing song with the song you are copying. In that case, use the Scroll buttons to display the song to be replaced, then press Enter. The Information Center window displays the below message with the NO flashing. OVERWRITE ? Press either Scroll button once.

Press the Play Pause button in the Music Recorder section to pause playback. Press the Play Pause button again to start playback from the point where it was paused. The CHAIN SONGS feature plays through the songs continuously until you press the Stop button in the Music Recorder section.

Orchestral & Solo What It Does: The red colored Orchestral and blue colored Solo buttons are the instrumental sounds that can be played alone, together, or in combination with the upper and lower keyboard organ, flute, strings, and vocal sounds. Orchestral sounds are polyphonic.

The red Upper On, Lower On, and blue Upper On, Lower On buttons determine from which key- board the Orchestral and Solo sounds will be played-upper keyboard or lower keyboard; or both the upper and lower keyboards. UPPER ON (red) As stated earlier, when the Jubilee is turned on or when the Reset button is pressed only the red Upper On button in the Orchestral section is lighted.

Disk Drive Music Recorder DISK DRIVE What It Does: The Disk Drive, located above the lower left endblock and to the left of the Lower Keyboard, allows you to save your own music performances on the Jubilee. The Disk Drive also allows you to save preset registrations.

MUSIC RECORDER What It Does: The Music Recorder records, stores on to disk, and plays back your own musical performances. The Music Recorder, together with the Disk Drive, can store up to 20 songs on a single disk. When not using the Music Recorder or Disk Drive eject the disk from the Disk Drive.

HOW TO RECORD A SONG Insert a formatted disk into the disk drive. Be sure that the label side of the disk is facing up and the “Write Protect Window” is closed. The metal protective shield on the disk enters the Disk Drive first. The Illustration below shows the proper positioning of the disk. Set the organ up with the sounds and features you wish to use to make your recording.

HOW TO ERASE A SONG Insert the disk containing the song you wish to erase into the Disk Drive. Press the Song button, located below the Information Center window. The Accomp and Upper buttons light up solid Green. Press either Scroll button to display the song title from the disk to be erased in the Information Center window.

There are two different types of disks that can be played on the Jubilee. The first type is a disk produced on the Jubilee organ itself. The second type is a Standard MIDI File disk (SMF) produced by a non-Lowrey source. The Jubilee is General MIDI equipped and will play these disks.

Expression Pedal Foot Switches EXPRESSION PEDAL What It Does: The expression Pedal lets you increase or decrease the volume of the organ while you are playing. How It Works: Place your right foot on the Expression Pedal. It is located in the cutout in the lower portion of the organ cabinet and to the right of the bass pedals.

FOOT SWITCHES What It Does: The foot switches let you activate the Glide, Sustain, and FX features with your foot while you are playing. GLIDE or SUSTAIN How It Works: There are two switches on the Expression pedal that are manipulated with you right foot. With your foot on the pedal, pivot your foot on its heel so that your toes move to the right or the left, activating the FX or the Glide/Sustain switches.

Headphones Rear Panel HEADPHONE JACK Plugging headphones into the headphone jack automatically turns off the sound from the Jubilee’s speaker system and directs the sound to the headphones. Before plugging the headphones into the headphone jack reduce the Expression Pedal volume to the minimum setting. Put the head- phones on and slowly increase the volume to a comfortable level.

AUX IN: The right and left (mono) AUX IN jacks can be used to connect a “line level” sound source to play through the jubilee sound system. This is ideal for playing the output from a cas- sette tape deck, compact disc player, synthesizer keyboard or a sound module through the organ.
