Installation

Unpacking and preparation
Carefully remove the filter and the separate accessories from the packaging and
check that nothing is missing. In the event that anything is missing or damaged,
please contact your specialist retailer.
Remove the FilterPad (8) by sliding it forwards out of its holder (7). Rinse the
cartridges under lukewarm tap water. Reinsert the pad into its holder.
Before you fit the filter, biologically activate the FilterPad in the filter with JBL
FilterStart Cleansing Bacteria (available at your specialist pet shop), as follows:
Drip 50 drops of JBL FilterStart per foam pad directly onto the pad.
Note: The JBL CristalProfi m Mat Filter can be expanded by additionally purchasing
one or more modules. The only limit is the height of the aquarium. Please activate
also the Filterpads of the modules with 25 drops of JBL FilterStart as described above.
The modules can be arranged in any order. Please ensure that the base plate with the
valve is always attached on the lowest module.
Putting the filter in position
Throughly clean the places on the aquarium glass where the large suction cup (3) of
the filter will be placed. Remove other foreign bodies e.g. small snails etc. from the
rest of the aquarium glass where the filter will be placed. Now press the filter onto
the glass in the designated corner of the tank and ensure that it fits smoothly on the
glass. Lock the suction cup (3), in turning the locking lever (3a) forwards (to symbol
"locked"). Make sure that the water outlet is on the level of the water surface. To
remove the filter turn the locking lever backwards (to symbol "unlocked") and remove
the filter from the aquarium glass. Clip the mini thermometer (10) into its holder and
turn the scale, that it is clearly visible.
Note: In aqua-terrariums with low water levels, the filter can simply be placed on
the bottom of the terrarium level side down and secured laterally with a suction
cup as described above. We recommend you use this filter for aqua-terrariums with
amphibians. Turtles would damage the FilterPad with its claws.
