  • Page 46: The Compliance Feature

This feature is used to limit the output of the Model 610D to within a safe operating range for the load device. For example, when in the CURRENT mode, voltage can be limited so as not to exceed the voltage rating of the load device;...
  • Page 47: Setting A Current Limit

Example: The Compliance controls are set for a 700 µA current limit. If the Model 610D is set up for an output voltage of 500 V and it is driving a 1 MΩ load, the current flowing through the load is 500 µA. In this instance, the current flowing through the load does not exceed the current limit value set by the Compliance controls and the output voltage is not restricted.

  • Page 51 (ungrounded) load path using the I(t)/I(r) switches. I(r) current is a component of total load current, I(t). I(t) (total load current) refers to all of the load current which is returned to the 610D except those load currents which are returned to the I(s) terminal. Total load current, I(t), is monitored by the 610D and provides a means for close regulation and monitoring of the total load current using the I(t) and I(r) switches.
  • Page 52 I(t) current and the I(s) current exceeds the current sourcing capability of the high voltage output. The output current of the 610D is regulated on the basis of the monitored current, I(t) or I(r), it is therefore possible for the additional I(s) current to take the instrument out of (current) regulation.
