2.2 Contact protection The site of installation and/or use of the units is outside the control of Eltex, contact protection against inadvertent contact of the bars and of live components by personnel as specified by the employer’s liability insu- rance association may have to be provided (e.g. DGUV V3 in Germany).
2.4 Proper Use The KNH18 high voltage generator has been approved as operating volt- age generator for the appropriate Eltex charging bars. It must be operated only with the appropriate Eltex bars (see chapter Installation and Assem- bly for bar models).

• The IP 40 protection class applies only if the lid of the enclosure is closed and the cable entries are covered, and this only in areas where IP 40 protection class is sufficient. • The site of installation must be dry and free of dust, if possible. Air cir- culation above the cooling ribs must not be obstructed (see chapter 3.1 "Assembly of the high voltage generator”, page...

The AGW value (maximum admissible concentration) serves to assess the ozone concentration at the workplace. The user must make sure that the appropriate national AGW value is at no times exceeded, e.g. in Germany the ozone concentration occurring during the operation of the system must not exceed the recommended value based on interna- tional limits of 0.06 ml/m³...
3. Installation and Assembly 3.1 Assembly of the high voltage generator The unit is designed either for wall assembly or table mounting. Attach the unit using the assembly/mounting brackets supplied with the unit (see fig- ure). The bulging of the holes in the support plate must point in the direc- tion of the generator.
3.3 Installation of the high voltage cables In case of fixed installations a minimum bending radius of 5 times the external diameter must be maintained and in case of dynamic installa- tions a minimum bending radius of 10 times the external diameter must be maintained when routing the high voltage cable.
3.4 Charging bars suitable for connection The following charging bars are suitable for connecting to the KNH18 high voltage generator: • Point charging bars R23ATR, • Charging bars R130A/R131A, • Charging bars R120/R121A (note voltage limitation according to Ope- rating Instructions R120/R121A).
3.5 Connecting the high voltage cable to the generator and to the distribution box Warning! Electric shock hazard! Work may be carried out only if: • the supply voltage to the generator has been disconnected, • the machine is at a standstill because the bars pick up charges if the material web is running.
Then pull out the cable. A conversion kit comprising terminal adapter, tubular rivet, split-pin plug and washer is available as accessory from Eltex. 3.7 Connecting the supply voltage Supply voltage connection to the high voltage generator is made directly via the mains plug using the enclosed mains cable.
3.8 Connecting the release signal High voltage is enabled / disabled via an external 24 V signal. Connect the lead of the release signal via the 5-pin connector (4, Fig. 1). The pin assignment is shown in Fig. 6. PIN 1: 24 V DC PIN 2: - PIN 3: - Fig.
4. Operation 4.1 Start-up Warning! Before activating the unit, the user must make sure that the unit has been correctly installed and that the connections are properly made. The supply voltage can then be switched on. The high voltage generator is switched on via the master switch. The generator is operational immediately after the supply voltage is switched on.
5. Maintenance Warning! Electric shock hazard! • Do not carry out any maintenance or repair work without first switching off the high voltage generator and disconnecting the supply voltage. • The machine which has the units fitted must not be in operation. •...
The warranty applies only if the operating and assembly instructions spe- cified by Eltex have been observed. The warranty period begins on the date of delivery. In the event of defects occurring during the warranty period, the units or defective components will be repaired at Eltex.
