    De i-Speak is een mobiel apparaat welke eenvoudig verplaatsbaar is door de geïntegreerde handgreep. De i-Speak is te gebruiken met Daisy rom-cd’s en audio-cd’s. Tijdens gebruik dient de i-Speak op een vlakke harde ondergrond geplaatst te worden. Met de meegeleverde batterij kan de i-Speak urenlang cd’s afspelen.

    Dit doet u door de lip met de opdruk “Pull, remove before use” aan de achterkant van het apparaat, uit het apparaat te trekken. Laad de batterij volledig op voordat u de i-Speak in gebruik neemt. 6 Oplaadbare batterij Opladen van de batterij Steek het netsnoer in de adapter.

    Het apparaat moet eerst opgeladen worden om weer gebruikt te kunnen worden. Batterijbesparingsfunctie De i-Speak zal automatisch uitschakelen als het apparaat aan staat maar niet afspeelt en er 30 minuten geen toets wordt ingedrukt. Een indicatietoon (dubbele piep) is hoorbaar en de verlichting van de aan-uittoets zal uit gaan.

    . Hiermee heeft u de meeste controle over het toestel tijdens het verplaatsen. Gebruik de bijgeleverde draagkoffer om de i-Speak op te bergen of te vervoeren over lange afstanden. Hierin is de i-Speak het beste beschermd tegen stoten en schokken. Vermijd direct zonlicht en grote vochtigheids- en temperatuurschommelingen.

    8 Bediening Wanneer er geen media aanwezig is in de i-Speak zal de functie van de ingedrukte toets worden uitgesproken. Zodra er wel media aanwezig is, zal de functie worden uitgevoerd en niet uitgesproken worden. Tijdens het laden van de cd kan het apparaat niet bediend worden en reageert deze alsof er geen cd aanwezig is.

    Houd de terug- of vooruittoets ingedrukt terwijl de i-Speak gepauzeerd is om meerdere pagina’s terug of vooruit te springen. Het apparaat laat een piep horen voor elke pagina die vooruit of terug wordt genavigeerd en zal op die pagina verder spreken.

    Volume regelen Wanneer het apparaat aan staat, kan het volume van de i-Speak worden geregeld door aan de volumeregelaar te draaien. Draai de regelaar naar u toe om het volume te verlagen en van u af om te verhogen. De i-Speak laat een dubbele pieptoon horen wanneer de minimale of maximale waarde bereikt is.

    CD laden Om een cd in de i-Speak te laden steekt u een cd met de bedrukte zijde naar boven zo ver in cd-sleuf tot het apparaat de cd zelf naar binnen geleidt. Wanneer de cd geschikte media bevat, zal de i-Speak automatisch beginnen met afspelen (dit kan worden uitgeschakeld in het gebruikersmenu).

    De i-Speak beschikt over een Gebruikersmenu waarin bepaalde werkingen van het apparaat zijn in te stellen. Om in het Gebruikersmenu te komen handelt u als volgt: • Zorg dat de i-Speak ingeschakeld is en eventuele media is gepauzeerd. Het menu is niet beschikbaar wanneer media speelt.

    The i-Speak has been developed to support reading problems due to, for example, low vision or dyslexia. The device is intended for playing audio books. These books are mostly published on Daisy-ROM CDs, whereby the playback speed and pitch can be adjusted as desired.

    1 Introduction The i-Speak is a battery-powered CD player with easy controls. The i-Speak is a mobile device that can easily be moved by the integrated handle. The i-Speak can be used with Daisy-ROM CDs and audio CDs. During use, the i-Speak must be placed on a flat hard surface.

    • Do not expose the i-Speak to direct sunlight and extreme or rapidly changing temperatures or humidity. • Use the i-Speak only in dry rooms, not in a bathroom or outside. • Do not place your i-Speak next to or on a heat source.

    • Pay attention to the connected cables of the adapter and headphones. These cables can pose a risk to your safety. • Keep the i-Speak out of reach of children (younger than 6 years).     This insulation lip must be removed before the device can be used. You do this by pulling the lip with the imprint “Pull, remove before use” out of the device. Fully charge the battery before using the i-Speak. 6 Rechargeable battery Charging the battery Plug the power cord into the adapter.

    The device must first be charged before it can be used again. Battery saver The i-Speak will turn off automatically if the device is on but not playing and no key is pressed for 30 minutes. An indication tone (double beep) will be heard and the on-off button light will go out.

    . This gives you the most control over the device while moving. Use the supplied carrying case to store or transport the i-Speak over long distances. The i-Speak is best protected against bumps and shocks. Avoid direct sunlight and large humidity and temperature fluctuations.

    Press the play-pause button to start or pause playback. Navigation The device has 3 navigation modes to adjust the i-Speak to your preferred way of reading. These navigation modes are only applicable for Daisy-ROM CDs. With other CD’s than Daisy- ROM’s, the device works in navigation mode 1.

    You will hear a double high beep when you reach the lower or upper limit of the control range. Sleep timer When the i-Speak is playing a CD, you can set the sleep timer by pressing the sleep timer button . By pressing several times you can choose to set the sleep timer to 15, 30, 45 or 60 minutes or to turn the sleep timer off.

    Pressing the on-off button to check the battery status. Load a CD To load a CD into the i-Speak, insert a CD with the printed side up into the CD slot until the device guides the CD inward. If the CD contains suitable media, the i-Speak will automatically start playing (autoplay can be switched off in the user menu).

    9 User menu The i-Speak has a User menu in which certain functions of the device can be set. To enter the User menu, proceed as follows: • Make sure the i-Speak is switched on and media is paused. The menu is not available when media is playing.
