- Page 3 We recommend that the dustcap be manually positioned in the centre without adhesive. Then, use many short, straight pieces of masking tape overlayed to create a tight mask precisely outside the contact patch of the dustcap. Next, apply adhesive to the cone. It is critical that only a thin bead is used, taking account of the fact that the adhesive will squeeze outwards over the masking tape when the cap is pushed down into it.
