Operating Instructions General Information The logical front panel layout of SM5074/ SM5075 ensures rapid familiarization with the various functions. However, even experienced operators should not neglect to carefully read the following instructions, to avoid any operational errors and to be fully acquainted with the instrument when later in use. -

AM Balance Frequency Modulation The modulating signal is applied to SM5074/ SM5075 AM/FM/PWM input & FM mode is selected by MOD pushbutton, then this function generator can be used as FM Signal Generator. Procedure - Set up the instrument as described in function generator operation. Use t h e frequency and amplitude mode to set the carrier to the desired frequency and amplitude. -

If a positive DC voltage is applied to the AM/FM/PWM input on the rear BNC of SM5074/ SM5075 & FM mode is selected by MOD pushbutton, the generator frequency increases, a negative DC voltage reduces the frequency. In this way SM5074/ SM5075 can be used as External VCF Signal Generator. -

The trigger output is short-circuit proof and can drive several TTL inputs. Use as External Frequency Counter Your SM5074/ SM5075 can used independently as Frequency Counter up to 40 MHz. Procedure - Press COUNTER push button, which converts instrument into external frequency counter. -
