Studio 7 Brake Pad and Brake Nut Replacement
This document explains how to replace the brake assembly, brake pad, and brake nut of the Star Trac Studio 7 bike.
Please be aware of pinch points and take care to avoid
injury while working inside of machines.
Tools Required
#3 metric hex key
#4 metric hex key
Crescent wrench
Small flat head screwdriver x2
Phillips screwdriver
1. Turn the handlebar height adjustment pop pin counter clockwise until the pop pin fully disengages the handlebar
post (Fig. 1)

  • Page 3 Technical Procedure 4. Using a 4mm hex key, remove the sleeve screw (Fig. 4) Fig. 4 5. Using a 3mm hex key, remove the 3 screws securing the sweat guard to the frame, exposing the brake carriage (Fig. 5 + 6) Fig.
  • Page 4 Technical Procedure 6. Pull up on the sleeve to expose the brake rod carrier nut, then use an adjustable wrench to free the brake rod carrier from the frame (Fig. 7) Fig. 7 7. Turn the brake knob clockwise until the brake rod is free from the brake carriage nut (Fig. 8 + 9) Fig.
  • Page 5 Technical Procedure 8. Using a phillips screwdriver, remove the brake bracket cover from the front of the bike (Fig. 10) then push up on the cover and pull to remove. Fig. 10 9. After removign the brake bracket cover, use a #3 hex key to remove the screws securing the brake bracket to the frame (Fig.
  • Page 6 Technical Procedure Fig. 12 Fig. 12.1 11. After the bracket plate has been removed, remove the brake pad assembly from the frame. If replacing just the brake pad itself, there are two screws that still need to be removed (Fig. 13). Remove them using a #3 hex key and a crescent wrench.
  • Page 7 Technical Procedure Brake Pad Assembly Continue to step 12 only if replacing the brake nut. 12. To free the brake nut from the brake pad, use a phillips screw driver, remove the two screws holding the brake nut to the brake pad (Fig. 14 + 14.1). Fig.
