Attaching Vest to Overhead Support Depending on patient support needs and the type of overhead system, the Balance Vest can be attached to either a single point between the shoulders or to the two shoulder point attachments via a spreader bar. If using a rope based system, excess rope can be placed in the pocket in the back of the vest.

Use of Optional Pelvic Support Strap (PSS) The optional pelvic support strap (PSS) can be used when there is a concern for the harness riding up on the patient’s torso and when some body weight support is desired. 1. Place the PSS behind the patient centering the rubberized section of the strap under the patients gluteal fold.

6. Use of Upper Extremity Accessories 1. Using the “Easy Reach” upper extremity assist device. The “Easy Reach” is a simple spring assist device ideal for promoting independent upper extremity activity for those who lack anti-gravity muscle strength. It can be hung from any of the overhead hooks and the Velcro band can be wrapped around the upper extremity (generally just below the elbow).
