5xx Series, Preparation for Transport
Before transport, the integrated transport locks of the turntable must be activated.
Also the platter and the tonearm balance weight must be removed. If there is a stylus
protection cap, it must be activated.
1. There are different transport lock mechanisms:
The models 502, 504, 505, 506, 510, 521 and 522 have a spring loaded turntable
base. The integrated transport locks can be activated as shown in the pictures below.
Loosen the 3 big lock screws, then pull them upwards and turn them at the same
time counterclockwise. With this mechanism the turntable will be pressed into the
housing. Picture B shows the regular position of the lock screw, the turntable can
move freely in the housing. At picture A the lock is activated, the turntable is pressed
into the housing.
Activation of the transport locks is a must for the transport. If there is a rough
transport, the turntable can move out of the housing. There is a high risk, that the
turntable will be damaged.
