Connecting to the FaroArm Quantum S

Download and install the FaroArm USB driver from the Faro website here (download instructions
also included):

On selecting the link for download, a new tab will open up where you can download your driver.

Make sure the FaroArm is plugged in and switched on.

Insert the FaroArm's USB cable into the USB port of your computer.

First you will need to select the protocol to use. To do this, navigate to the 'Tools' tab and select
'Configure'.
4.1. The following configuration box will open, and you will need to select the correct protocol. To
do this click the 'select' button.
The parameters button, as suggested, allows you to change some of the parameters associated
with the device i.e.: scan density etc
4.2. From the list, select 'Faro Devices', and then 'OK'.

  • Page 2 Finally, you need now just to connect to the machine. 5.1. If there is not a document open, from the ‘Tools’ tab, select ‘Connect’. This will connect your computer to the machine using the protocol you have just selected. 5.2. If you have a document open, go into the ‘Tools’ tab, but this time select ‘Attach’. This connects the machine to your open document using the protocol you have just selected.
  • Page 3 2. Select either the iProbe (on left) or Scanner (on right) depending on what item you are playing. The pencil icon in the bottom left of each probe allows you to change some of the parameters for that probe. This is especially useful for the scanner, where you can edit the scan density.
  • Page 4 3. On activating the desired probe by clicking on it, close the probe selector box. Taking Measurements To take measurements, simply ‘play’ any item. To manually probe a point or start a scan, press the green button. 2.1. To stop a scan, press the green button again. To accept your measurement (scan or probed points), press the red button.
