Vantage VPS and VPS-I
Vantage VPS boards are full sized, single slot ISA bus
compatible voice processing boards. They provide 2 or 4
telephony ports, four-port audio connections, four-port
analog bus connections (ABC), and can interface with the
MVIP internal bus.
This installation guide provides information on how to:
Set your board's I/O port address
Terminate MVIP streams
Install your board
Connect cables to the board
Your Vantage board uses the following items:
MVIP cable
BT to RJ11 adapter (UK)
International to RJ11 adapter (European)
ABC cable (domestic)
ABC-I cable (international)
15-pin Audio connector box
WARNING:
A small amount of static electricity
can destroy the sensitive components on your
board. To prevent static damage, always connect
yourself to ground using a ground strap before
touching a circuit board. Handle boards only by the
edges or metal brackets, and transport boards in an
anti-static bag.
Setting the I/O Port
Every voice processing board is factory configured to use
base I/O port 300h. For a chassis with more than one board,
each board must have an I/O port with a unique value
between 000h to 3FFh. We recommend using values in the
TM
range of 300h to 340h.
Your board uses seven I/O port addresses in addition to
the one you select. These are the base I/O address plus
400h, 800h, C00h, 1000h, 1400h, 1800h, and FC00h.
For example, if you select a base address of 308h, your
board uses the additional I/O ports 708h, B08h, F08h,
1308h, 1708h, 1B08h, and FF08h.
For a chassis with only one board, change its base I/O port
address only if another device in that chassis uses the same
address.
To calculate jumper values:

2.
3.
Note: Store open jumpers over a single pin, as shown in
Figure 1. Close jumpers by setting them over both pins.
Example:

Orient your board with bracket to the right and the
ISA bus connector at the bottom.
Identify the I/O port jumpers (W13 in Figure 4).
Starting from the top, the jumper headers run from
MSB 9-LSB 0.
On international boards, jumper headers run from
left to right, MSB 9-LSB 0.
Use Table 1 to set jumper headers open or closed for
your chosen address.
The following procedure shows how to use
Find the jumper settings for the first digit "3" (308)
in Table 1 (first column, 3xx).
Only positions 8 and 9 contribute to the first digit.
If they are not already open, open jumper positions
8 and 9 as Table 1 indicates.
Find the jumper settings for the middle digit "0"
in Table 1 (first column, x0x).
If they are not already closed, close jumper headers
7 through 4 as Table 1 indicates.
Find the jumper setting for the final digit "8"
Table 1 (first column, xx8).
Open jumper position 3, and close positions 2
through 0 as Table 1 indicates.
