The Vicks VDT972 RapidRead™ Digital Thermometer is a handheld, battery-powered, predictive, digital stick thermometer intended for the intermittent

determination of human body temperature orally, rectally, or under the arm, in a home-use environment for people of all ages (infants, children, and adults).
It is intended to be used with a single-use, disposable probe cover for all measurements.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION
• High, prolonged fever requires medical attention especially for young children. Please contact your physician.
• DO NOT allow children to take their temperatures unattended.
• DO NOT allow children to walk or run during temperature taking.
• NOT for use on pre-term babies and small-for-gestational-age babies.
• DO NOT boil or clean the thermometer in the dishwasher. Ensure that no liquid enters the interior of the thermometer.
• Never use abrasive cleaning agents, thinners, or benzene for cleaning, and never soak the device in water or other cleaning liquids.
• Make sure to replace the protective cover after use to prevent scratches or damage to the thermometer.

CHANGING THE DISPLAY FROM FAHRENHEIT (°F)
OR CELSIUS (°C):
1. Make sure the thermometer is turned OFF.
2. Press and hold the blue SITE SELECTION button until C/F scale alternates on the display.
3. Release the SITE SELECTION button when the desired scale is shown (C or F).
4. The device will power off after 2 seconds.
5. After being turned ON again, the most recent temperature stored in memory will be
TEMPERATURE READINGS
Temperature readings vary from person to person. Although there is no one "normal" temperature
reading, a temperature, taken orally, ranging between 97°F and 100°F, is considered normal. A
rectal temperature is generally 1° higher and an underarm (axillary) temperature will be 1° lower.
The best method to determine your own normal temperature is to use the thermometer when you are
feeling well. Record your reading twice a day (early morning and late afternoon). Take the average of the
two temperatures. This is considered your normal body temperature. Any variation from it may indicate
some sort of illness and you should consult your physician.
BEFORE USE:

use, avoid eating or drinking any liquids, exercising, taking showers or baths, or smoking. Your Vicks
RapidRead may be used with or without probe covers.

LECTURAS DE TEMPERATURA
Las lecturas de temperatura varían de persona a persona. Aunque no hay una lectura de temperatura
"normal", una temperatura, tomada oralmente, que oscila entre 97°F (36°C) y 100°F (37.8°C), es
considerada normal. Una temperatura rectal es generalmente 1° más alta y una temperatura axilar
(bajo el brazo) será 1° más baja.
El mejor método para determinar su propia temperatura normal es usar el termómetro cuando se sienta bien.
