Intended Use The Ironton 5-Ton Horizontal Electric Log Splitter was designed for home use. It’s built to operate best at temperatures between 41º F and 104º F. For an extremely hard log, rotate the log 90º to see whether it can be split in a different direction. If you are not able to split the log, its hardness exceeds the capacity of the machine and thus that log should be discarded to protect the log splitter from damage.
