    4. Mounting bracket for the sensor 5. 3 m. cable for repeater connection The Type 11-B compass system can be used for remote reading of a magnetic compass system, as well as a stand alone compass system, depending on what type of sensor is applied.
  • Page 5: Mounting The Sensors

Mounting the sensors : Type MC4 : The sensor must be mounted exactly in the center under the magnetic compass. Therefore a special bracket is included, which must be sticked to the glass at the bottomside of the compass. The bracket is supplied with special double sided adhesive tape to ensure maximum contact.

  • Page 7: Type Mc2 And Mc5

Sensor Type MC2 and MC5 : As written in the introduction, the sensors MC2 and MC5 are applied for the stand alone compass systems. Both sensors measure the earth magnetic field and are therefore sensitive to magnetic disturbances. To minimize the deviations caused by these disturbances, apply the following guide lines for mounting the sensor : - Minimum distance to steel, in all directions, depends on...
  • Page 8: Repeater Type 11-B

Repeater Type 11-B : The repeater is standard flush mounted. The repeater is not sensible for magnetic disturbances, therefore it can be mounted on every location and in every position but the distance between the repeater and the magnetic compass may not be less than 1.5 mtr.

Wiring of the Electronic unit Type IN11-B : The wiring diagrams are shown on page 14. The systems power supply must be within 18Vdc to 35Vdc maximum, both main and emergency powersupply (4,35VA / 24Vdc). Both cables of the powersupplies must be with 2 wires and a screen. Note : Connect the screen to the case of the electronic unit directly when it enters the housing by folding the screen back on the outside of the rubber of the cable gland.

Compass adjustment of deviations : TRUE MAGNETIC In the electronic unit are 6 potentiometers and 3 switches for HEADING INDICATION DEVIATION compensation of the "A", "B", "C", "D", "E" and "V" deviations. In order to determine the deviations of the repeater in respect to the true magnetic heading a steering table must be made : Steer the ship one full circle and check the differences (deviations) between the true magnetic heading and the repeater indication on the...

"E" adjustment : With "E" the deviations on the N/E and S/W segments can be eliminated. With the potentiometer the range is set. On delivery this potentiometer is set in the neutral position. After compensation has been carried out, leave the potentiometer in position.
