    1. INTRODUCTION Thank you for purchasing a Drive DeVilbiss Inspiration Cot. For safety reasons it is imperative that the instructions are read and fully understood prior to use, as they contain information regarding the safe operation and maintenance of the product.

    Children must not be allowed to play under the cot. 4. PRODUCT DESCRIPTION Your Inspiration Cot is suitable for children of high dependency and those who are a moving and handling risk. To aid the carer the cot is adjustable with a simple touch button handset.

    6. INSTALLATION AND PREPARING FOR USE Your Inspiration Cot comes fully assembled and ready for use. Simply remove any packaging and connect the mains cable to an appropriate mains socket outlet. • Ensure that the mains cable is not in tension when connected to the power supply.

    8. ELECTRICS i) Handset The handset is designed to be used by the carer only. The mattress platform can be tilted from either the head or foot end and the cot height is adjustable. To adjust the position of the cot, depress the relevant button until the desired point has been reached and then release the button.

    9. EMERGENCY MECHANICAL CPR FUNCTION (OPTIONAL ACCESSORY) The mattress platform can be levelled by pulling a handle found at the foot end of the cot. There is one lever to activate the foot end and another for the head end, found to either side of the shelf.

    10. BRAKING AND STEERING There are two linked brake pedals at the foot end of the cot which control all the castors simultaneously. • When the pedal is in the ‘steer’ position it locks one castor on the cot so that it cannot swivel. This allows the cot to be steered when being pushed from the head end of the cot.

    11. SIDE RAILS Your cot comes complete with two integral telescopic side rails which can be locked in position at six different heights. When the side rail is fully down it provides the carer with complete access to the mattress platform regardless of the cot height. i) Adjusting the Side Rail Height Release the side rail by gently sliding the two yellow button levers outwards, this disengages the locking mechanism.

    12. SHELF To raise the shelf, squeeze both spring loaded release handles, these are situated to the shelf underside on the left and right hand sides. Lift the shelf until it is level, once in position release the handles and ensure that the shelf has locked in position. To fold the shelf down, squeeze both release handles and gently lower it down.

    Drive DeVilbiss Healthcare recommends that a risk assessment is carried out to determine, amongst other potential risks, whether the patient could reach the hinged access points.

    14. TRANSFUSION POLE (OPTIONAL EXTRA) The safe working load of the transfusion pole is 10kg, however no more than 3kg should be hung from each hook. The pole should be inserted into one of the sockets found to the head end of the mattress platform and the handwheel tightened. 15.

    16. CLEANING PROCEDURE 16.1 Cleaning & Disinfection Guidelines • Always disconnect the cot from the main power supply prior to cleaning. Warning To aid cleaning, the mattress platform panels can be removed. It is also advisable to remove any accessories that are fastened to the cot. These instructions apply to all accessories apart from soft products (e.g.

    Refer to the Drive DeVilbiss Healthcare infection control policy, copies are available from Drive DeVilbiss Healthcare. Contact details can be found on the back of this booklet. 16.2 Steam Cleaning The cot can be dry steam cleaned.
  • Page 17: Maintenance Procedure

    Failure to do so may result in the manufacturer’s warranty becoming void. The cot must be serviced at least once yearly, as a minimum. Drive DeVilbiss Healthcare also recommends the carer to perform frequent visual and operational inspections. If there are any signs of damage, or if the cot is not performing as it should withdraw it from service until repaired and determined ‘fit for use’.
  • Page 18 Check that the mains lead is connected to the mains supply. If none of the above work, keep the cot unplugged from the mains supply and contact your authorised service personnel or Drive DeVilbiss Healthcare. Do not use the cot until the problem has been resolved.

  • Page 20 Electrical safety standards: IEC 60601-1: 2005 EMC: IEC 60601-1-2:2007 The cot is compliant to the requirement of 60601-1-2: 2007, the RF emissions are very low and are not likely to cause any interference to nearby electronic equipment, however interference to sensitive equipment is possible. Qualified users of the cot can help prevent electromagnetic interference by maintaining a minimum distance between portable and mobile RF communications equipment (transmitters).

    All replaced parts and products on which refund is made become the property of Drive DeVilbiss Healthcare. New or reconditioned parts and products may be used in the performance of warranty service. Repaired or replaced parts and products are warranted for the remainder of the original warranty period.
