The Cannon
Digi-Troll IV 120KHZ Transducer enables the bottom following option to dect and
®
follow bottom contour changes. The accuracy of your Digi-Troll IV is largely dependant on correctly
installing the transducer on your boat. If not installed properly, your Digi-Toll IV unit will not give you the
service of which it is capable.
The Digi-Troll IV functions by sending a series of sonar pulses from the transducer. Each pluse
travels through the water until it hits the bottom terrain. The pulse then "bounces" back to the transducer
where it is converted to an electical signal and used to adjust the depth of the downrigger weight accord-
ingly.
The face of the transducer must be in intimate contact with undisturbed water. Sonar signals can-
not travel either through open air or through turbulent water. Air and/or turbulence will "blind" the sonar,
causing it to lose bottom contact or otherwise cause poor operation of the bottom following feature. To
ensure that the transducer is mounted properly, follow the suggestions in this manual.
