Mini tyre changer

4. OperatION
IMPORTANT! Never attempt to fit or remove a tyre without first lubricating both beads.
4.1.
Bead breaking
4.1.1.
deflate the tyre by removing the valve core and remove all balance weights.
4.1.2.
Place the wheel with the valve facing down, over the threaded centre bar (fig.1).
4.1.3.
Thread the locking nut onto the threaded centre bar, using the alignment cone and optional spacers if required.
Note: ensure that the wheel is securely fastened to the tyre changer before proceeding with the operation.
4.1.4.
Attach the bead breaker to the locking nut using one of the locking pins.
4.1.5.
Adjust the shoe of the bead breaker so that it sits on the tyre and aligns close to the edge of the wheel rim and locate using the other
locking pin (fig.2).
4.1.6.
Apply firm pressure to the bead breaker by pushing down on the long handle, gradually work around the wheel rim until the bead has
separated from the rim.
4.1.7.
Turn wheel over and repeat to free the other bead.
4.1.8.
Remove the bead breaker bar from the locking nut.
4.2.
tyre removal
4.2.1.
lubricate both tyre beads with an approved rubber lubricant.
4.2.2.
Place the wheel onto the stand with the narrow bead seat uppermost and lock down using the lock nut and spacers.
4.2.3.
Push down on the tyre until there is enough room to insert the ball end of the tyre removal tool under the bead of the opposite side of
the tyre (fig.3).
4.2.4.
Push down on the removal bar, so that the bead is raised above the rim.
4.2.5.
Hold the tyre to prevent it from turning and pull the removal bar around anti-clockwise until all the bead has been raised above the rim
(fig.3).
4.2.6.
lift the tyre up, remove inner tube if fitted and repeat the procedure for the lower bead (fig.4).
4.3.
tyre fitting
4.3.1.
lubricate both tyre beads with an approved rubber lubricant.
4.3.2.
mount and lock the wheel to the stand.
4.3.3.
Place the lower bead of the tyre over the wheel rim (fig.5) and insert the fitting head of the tyre bar between the bead and the rim with the
bead on the ledge of the fitting head (fig.6).
4.3.4.
lever the bar against the wheel location clamp and rotate the bead over the rim (fig.6).
4.3.5.
Fit an inner tube if appropriate and then seat the upper bead in the same manner (fig.7).
4.3.6.
Attach an air line gauge to inflate the tyre to seal the beads against the rim (fig.8), remove the air line gauge and refit the tyre valve
core. Adjust the tyre pressure to the manufacturer's recommended pressure.
WarNINg! Check that the bead has fully sealed against the wheel rim before replacing the valve core. Remove the lock nut and remove
the wheel from the tyre changer.
