1. Operating Instruction for using EvoBoards-Input systems
Our medical keyboards are carrying important qualities, needed to
reduce contact/ cross contamination in medical environment.
In order to make the use of these keyboards more efficient, keep them
reliably working and fulfil the individual hygiene demands, please pay
attention to the following information.
The input devices must be inspected for damages before use.
2. Cleaning and disinfecting
To avoid unintended inputs, lock the keyboard before cleaning. For that
please refer to 3.1 at the following page.
If you are using a keyboard without an implemented lock function,
please shut-down your PC or unplug the device. The mostly used
USB-interface is hot-pluggable. After it is plugged in again, the PC will
initialize the device automatically.
In case of an intensive contamination, the keyboard should be cleaned
first with a disinfected soft brush, sponge or similar object, using a
standard cleaning agent.
Keyboards specified according IP68, can even be dipped to achieve the
best cleaning results.
In order to assure the preferred low activation force, the thickness of the
silicone rubber material, at the foot of the keys, is very thin.
This area can easily be injured or damaged with a sharp object. This would
lead to a damage of the entire keyboard, so please be aware of that specific
character of silicone rubber keypads and keep sharp or spiky objects away
from the rubber.
In a second process, the keyboards must be disinfected.
For wipe disinfection, we recommend using only surface disinfectants
(no solutions predominantly containing alcohol such as alcoholic ra-
pid-action disinfectants) and disposable disinfectant methods based on
ammonium chloride.
In case immersing is necessary or preferred time by time, the time of
dipping the product in the disinfecting liquid, should be as long as
necessary, but as short as possible. It should be rinsed by clear water
immediately and wiped with a dry cloth.
For cleaning purposes not allowed substances are e.g. pure alcohole or
predominantly alcohol based substances, benzine, acetone, substances
with a chlorine content higher than 10%.
Please note that silicone rubber is generally sensitive against most kinds of
oils and fats.
Keep the USB-connector dry and clean, its open contacts may otherwise be
damaged.
Because of the large variety of disinfecting substances and conti-
nuously changing compositions, only an orientation regarding suitable
substances can be given herewith. For this reason, we cannot assume
any liability for the use of these substances.

3. Extended electronic functions
(new versions after completed update starting November 2016)
Your EvoBoards keyboard is providing sophisticated features to impro-
ve its performance and make the operation more comfortable and save.
Please read the instructions carefully, to be prepared to use your key-
board in the most efficient style.
3.1 Lock-Mode
To avoid unintended actions at the host system during the cleaning
process, the keyboard including all its function units (touchpad etc.)
can be disabled temporarily.
This function will be activated with a 3s key push at the lock key. The
keyboard and all its function units will be on standby for a 60s time
period. A blinking LED (depending on keyboard model either Caps
Lock-LED or separate individual Lock-LED) is indicating that lock status.
In the last 15s of that 60s-time period, there is an increasing blinking
frequency. It indicates the lock time is going to end soon. To be save,
the cleaning process should be completed after 45s.
After that 60s time period, the keyboard will automatically fall back to
normal operation mode. In case of additional cleaning need, another
cleaning sequence can be started.
3.2 Backlight (BL-versions only)
The brightness at the LED backlit keyboards can be adjusted according
your personal preferences.
Please push the dedicated backlight button for that. You can move
step-by-step through a 4 step sequence. Please release the button after
each push, to be prepared for further steps.
The values are OFF, 60%, 80% and 100%. Once reached 100% will it start
with the next push again at OFF.
The value, set with that procedure, will be saved in an internal memory
after a 10s delay after the last change. That means your individual setup
will be available even after plugging off that device or host system
shut-down.

3.3 CleanRemind - Cleaning/Disinfecting Reminder
To keep the device in a clean and hygienic condition, this function will
remind the user to perform a cleaning /disinfecting procedure after a
certain operation time.
After the keyboard is plugged in and/or the host system has started,
a timer is counting down. Once it arrived at zero, the lock LED starts
fading up and down to signalize a need for cleaning.
Performing a cleaning procedure by going into the Lock-Mode (see 3.1
Lock-Mode) will reset the timer again to the starting point and another
count-down will start.
This function can be adjusted according your individual preferences.
Continuously pushing the lock button, will take you first into the Lock
mode (see above), keeping the button pushed for another 3s, will get
you into that Setup mode.
Once in there, the time period set, will be indicated by the number of
lock LED blinks.
3 times high frequent blink -> function is disabled
Level 1 -> 4h, Level 2 -> 6h, Level 3 -> 9h, Level 4 -> 12h
With a lock button push you can go through these 5 different levels
step-by-step. The setting, reached with that procedure, is always be
indicated by LED blinks as described before.
15s after the last activation of the lock button within that setting pro-
cedure, the setup mode ends automatically. The device will return to
normal operation mode.
Same as for the backlight setting, the value, set with that procedure
will be saved in an internal memory after a 10s delay. That means your
individual setup will be available even after plugging off that device or
host system shut-down.
