Per mettere in funzione la macchina. Togliere i l fermaleve di plastica, spostare la
leva (6) (hloccaggio del carrello) e sollevare la leva interlineatrice (1). Per riabbas-
sarla, al termine della scrittura, tirarla leggermente i n avanti.
Preparing the machine for use. Remove the plastic type-bar protector, release the
lever (6) (carriage locking lever) and raise the line space lever (1). For lowering it,
when ending, pull lightly forward.
Per sistemare il foglio nella posizione corretta, usare la leva liberacarta (IO), che sol-
leva anche il telaio premicarta ( 4 ) .
To insert the paper correctly, use the paper release lever (10). which also lifts the bail
rods (4).

Line space selector. The distance between the lines is determined b y the lever (2). In
position O the spacing mechanism is disengaged from the platen, for writing in a part-
icular position not corresponding to the spaces already established. (Le. H20, Con).

Variable line spacing knob. By twisting away from you the left knob (12 A), the platen
is completely disengaged from the spacing mechanism. This serves t o find the correct
alignment when re-inserting a sheet into the machine for continuing copy already
typed.
Automatic paragraph indentation. Hold down key (17) while operating the line space
lever and bring the carriage back to the start of a new line. I t will stop 5 spaces before
the full return, giving constant margin position for any new paragraph. This key (17)
is also used to disentangle type bars should they get jammed by rnistake.
Line iinder (8). Back space key (16).
Shift lock (19). Release by depressing the shift key (18) situated below.
Capoverso automatico. Tenere abbassato il tasto (17) meritre si azione la leva interlinea
per andare a capo. Il carrello si fermerà 5 spazi prima, consentendo una marginatura
speciale e costante ad ogni inizio di periodo. I l tasto (17) serve anche per sbloccare
i martelletti eventualmente impigliati.

Cambio dei colori del nastro. Premere e spostare la levetta (14). A destra, essa esclude
il nastro dalla battuta, per incidere matrici per duplicatori.
Ribbon colour change. Press down and move the small lever (14). Moving it fully to
the right, takes the ribbon off the keys, for cutting stencils.
Inversione del nastro. È automatica a fondo corsa. Si pua tuttavia ottenere i n qualsiasi
momento, azionando la leva (13).
Ribbon reverse. This is automatic when the end of one spool is reached. Ribbon can
be reversed at any time if required by operating lever (13).
Cambio del nastro. Rimuovere i l copribobine (15), premere il tasto fissamaiuscole ed
asportare le due bobine, disimpegnando il nastro vecchio dalla forcella. Liberare una
delle bobine ed agganciarvi il nastro nuovo. Rimettere a posto le bobine, reinserendo
il nastro nella forcella come indicato nelle figure A e B tenendo presente, se il nastro
6 bicolore, che la zona rossa sia i n basso.
Changing the ribbon. Remove the cover-plate (15), press down the shift key and take
out the two spwls, disengaging the old ribbon from the hooks. Hook the new ribbon
to an empty spool. Replace the spools, re-inserting the ribbon in the hooks as indicated
in illustrations A and B. Check that the bottom half of the ribbon, (if two colour)
shows red.
